Image licenses

[edit]

Hello. I saw that you put a note on some of your image uploads saying "Re-use or commercial use requires permission of the owner". Please note that such a restriction is actually not compatible with our "free content" rules on Wikipedia, and that it contradicts the very license you put just underneath, "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0" ([1]). Your offer of images to Wikipedia is very much appreciated, but we can only accept it if you are willing to license them also for free re-use by everybody else, for any purpose.

Please let me know if you wish to maintain this restriction. If yes, I'll unfortunately have to delete the images; if not, I'll remove those notes. Thank you, – Fut.Perf. 11:03, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for the confusion created. You can correct the file description of the image. User:Samsujata

I was surprised that there was no mention of famous bollywood star Jeetendra on this page Bollywood who was very popular among the masses in 70 and 80's and has given so many years to the industry please specify his name on this page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.119.78.66 (talk) 09:29, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 212.119.78.66, I have edited minor portion of the article Bollywood yet. The page was created long time back, so senior editors working on the article can provide you with detail on adding info. about Jeetendra or other famous actors. Please consult with them, or I shall help in adding the suggested detail, if it complies with the article's need. 09:35, 17 December 2011 User:Samsujata

Barnstar

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to everyone who - whatever their opinion - contributed to the discussion about Wikipedia and SOPA. Thank you for being a part of the discussion. Presented by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Thank you for your contributions to this article. Now that you have added some independent sources, I am satisfied that the 'primarysources' template no longer applies, and you were right to remove it. Happy editing. Robofish (talk) 17:59, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What did you think about the deletion notice you received?

[edit]

Hi Samsujata,

In December you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! Stub tags

[edit]

Hi, You added a stub tag to Teleportation, but there are a few points to note:

  1. {{stub}} does not take a date parameter
  2. It must be added at the end of the article, after everything except interlanguage links (per WP:FOOTERS)
  3. It is helpful to stub-sorters if you use a lowercase "s" rather than uppercase "S", as it's a bit less typing when we change "stub" to "something-stub".

Thanks. There's a lot to learn about Wikipedia editing, but it's an interesting journey! PamD 18:16, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Harshad Mehta, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Commission (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:25, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2012 Indian Ocean Earthquake

[edit]

Hello, Thankyou for your comments. However, I would like to know why you say that it is 8.6 only because of what USGS says. Have you researched your information carefully? I have definitely done so, but what about you? JoJaEpp (talk) 22:43, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You need to know something about Geological Study and Resources. United States Geological Survey (USGS) is one of the two primary data center that every other institution, corporations or any other organization refer to, regarding any geological data, on earth. It is the finest and most accurate data center. If Earthquake measurement has been updated by USGS to 8.6, then similar update must be done with other sites. I don't see any further discussion on this topic. Thank you. Salman 05:10, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Bhagawan Koirala during an Interview, 2012.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bhagawan Koirala during an Interview, 2012.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Orphaned non-free media (File:First Step Back Home.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:First Step Back Home.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:21, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Correction of Highest Groosing Films

[edit]

Hello Sams, Thanks for your editing but you have do one mistake. You put 36 crore of Dhoom 3 in "Single Day Gross". The order of Net gross in the rows became disordered. The film Dhoom 3 got 30.9 crore on opening day (not 36). You did that mistake many times and I correct it. You can confirm your mistake by watching Dhoom 3#Box office. Please add correct information to the wikipedia. Thanks Yasir Mushtaq Talk 09:27, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern, Yasir, but I must disagree with you. The Net collection of a film in India includes total receipts received from every screenings in a country. The data you suggested 30.9 is a receipt received only from Hindi screenings, but we must consider receipts from screenings from other languages as well. It is suggested alike in Dhoom 3#Box office. Please confirm your intel with this [2]. Also, your suggestion contradicts with the receipts of Chennai Express and Krrish 3 as well, which has also taken account of receipts from all languages screening in a country but only Hindi. Non-Informator

[edit]

Hello Sams, you have really not any information of Highest-Grossing films. In the above section I point out your mistake that the table became disorder, then, you add a new gross of 38 crore. There is not any day when Dhoom 3 got 38 crores. This is the proof of your non-informatory. Moreover, you gave me 2 references to go. I want to tell you that this is wikipedia and it only depend upon its sources (links) and not in any other website. You had already once blocked and once blocked user does not know any thing. I request an admin to block you again. Dont Worry of the article. - Yasir Mushtaq Talk 19:10, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Yashir. Whatever edits I made was in accordance to wiki guidelines, and you've no right to threaten or use inflammatory statements against me in any case. You may know, Wiki runs through the reliable 3rd party references, which I complied to, undoubtedly. I'm sure you can't find a single piece of article which has been edited without the use of proper reference in the page. Moreover, it's a genuine suggestion to you to not assume that you own Wikipedia or its components in any way, it's built by user for users, and everyone has a right to do so with his own consent. If you do not comply, then I'd have no other options but to request an admin to block you permanently for using inflammatory statements against another user. Salman 05:41, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Samsujata,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for participating in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! This would not have been possible without your support and we want to thank you. If you have not yet listed your name as a participant in the contest page please do so.

Please make sure to list the articles you have created or improved in the article achievements' section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked. To be able to claim prizes, please also ensure to list your articles on the users by articles page. We would be awarding prizes to different categories of winners:

  • Overall winner
    • 1st - $500
    • 2nd - $200
    • 3rd - $100
  • Diversity winner - $100
  • Gender-gap filler - $100
  • Language Winners - up to $100*

We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!

Thank you once again for being part of this global event! --Jamie Tubers (talk) 10:30, 06 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
