Railway station names

[edit]

I have proposed that all railway station names in India be suffixed only with ‘railway station’ and all pages named otherwise be suitably altered. The article Gudamalani has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unencyclopedic grammar and unclear citation style.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on File:Victory tower.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, I noted your comments on the AfD page for A.R.Maharaj and could not help noticing that there seems to be an issue with the nominator and 'Santhara'. I looked at the revision history page of the article and note that the AfD page emerged immediately after you had undone his 'Santhara' deletion, and not before! I really expected an edit summary from an editor with more than 73000 edits and over 7 years of experience. Am disappointed, sorry! btw, the category lists Delhi and Puducherry amongst Indian states ( which are obviously not!). Going by the same logic, I had listed Chandigarh, but you thought otherwise! So be it! If you think it ok, you could edit the name of the category to Indian politicians by state and territories. -- Ralfan (talk) 14:45, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Shyamsunder, I noticed you made Category:Dams by river and populated it with four similar sub-categories. I feel this may be a case of over-categorization. Many rivers have their own category, like Category:Mahanadi River, so a sub-category for dams on the river usually isn't necessary as the few there are can just fit under the category for the river. If a single river had 30 or so dams on it, I could see a separate category. Before we go all out with categories, I want to discuss this with WikiProject Dams. At least two of the subcategories would need to be renamed "across" vs. "on". You can see the WikiProject Dams conversation here. You thoughts are welcome.--NortyNort (Holla) 18:12, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects and blanking

[edit]

Hello there, and thanks for your contributions. I've noticed that you have blanked a lot of redirects to various rail-related articles. Normally this is not a good idea, as blank pages are confusing and unhelpful to readers of the encyclopedia. If you would like the redirects to be deleted (because they are incorrect or misleading, for example), it is best to follow the procedure at WP:RFD. Otherwise, if you think they are doing no harm, it might be best to leave them as redirects. Once again, thanks for your work. — This, that and the other (talk) 04:43, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
