Hi Tony. I've changed your CSD A7 to G10 (attack). If you read on you will see that it contains some perverse insults. Cheers, --Kudpung (talk) 11:40, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I had intended to remove the line, but got distracted. My best to you. ttonyb (talk) 11:41, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Mannchalay

Just need clarification on Mannchalay.Plot of TV Drama Serial was deleted by you and you said " You may use external websites or publications as a source of information" So I added a reference to a website from where that plot was taken. Hoever again it has been deleted. Dont understand, what am I doing wrong??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mshakeelbhatti (talkcontribs) 11:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Adding a reference to the original work does not remove the copyright issue. It is still copied from the original text. You can either request permission to use the text - see the message in your talk page for help with that - or you can rewrite the text for use in the article. ttonyb (talk) 11:54, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Kharne Question

Hello sir,
The word kharne was not "just made up one day", it has been and is used by 100,000's of gamers every day. I have seen terms such as "newb" and "pwned" also written about on wikipedia, which is of the same as kharne. A slang term. I urge you to reconsider your deletion of the topic. I rewrote the topic of Kharne much more thoroughly, if you could possibly read the last revision before deletion by another user it would be appreciated. I intend to find sources however I do not know if logs of conversations would be sufficient, however that non the less undermines the validity of the term.
Sincerly,
Masterkharne (talk) 05:05, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Master Kharne (the name was made solely to write this page, btw very good administration on such an enormous site, albeit questionable to me)

hi ttonyb1,

I saw a message regarding the post for Hollywood Hip attire. Is there something that I need to change? Thanks for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashhtrey (talkcontribs) 04:32, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Probably the best thing to do is remove the reference to someone's wife and provide reliable sources to support the article. ttonyb (talk) 04:35, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

On the articles.

The articles are already cited. See the link (http://www.telegraphindia.com/1071018/asp/careergraph/story_8445256.asp). Sidhu Jyatha (talk) 05:06, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Funny enough. It was there just a few minutes ago. Wonder what happened? Sidhu Jyatha (talk) 05:11, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Bill Johnson (Ohio politician)

I think by now it's obvious this is the first article I've tried to post on Wikipedia. I've only tried to do this because I couldn't find any article for Bill Johnson (Ohio politician)

I understand the copyright issues, but I have a question for you...

Since Bill Johnson does not have an article and his predecessor "Charlie Wilson (Ohio politician)" does what would the best course of action?

1) Wait until the U.S. Government posts an official picture and biography and link/cite information from that?

2) Cite his election page for now?

3) Let someone better at using Wikipedia handle it?

Thanks! Thwiang (talk) 15:02, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! Please do not become frustrated. If I were you I would recreate the article citing the win and any info such as party, percent of vote, etc. I would also add any bio you have, but instead of copying the text you need to rewrite it in your own words. You also need to cite the text added using the Wikipedia reference format. If you have any questions, please let me know on my talk page. ttonyb (talk) 15:15, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tony, Could you please help me out so that I can understand the criteria in WP:BIO using reliable sources that you are citing? Do you have an email address I could use to correspond with you? Thanks, Ebrawer (talk) 22:55, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Feel free to leave your questions here. Thanks... ttonyb (talk) 01:09, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. I guess I'm trying to understand why you are dismissive of the media articles that quote him as an authority regarding cardiovascular health issues as irrelevant, given that he is a cardiologist. As a spokesperson for Heart & Stroke, he is considered the go-to person in the Canadian media for all cardiovascular health issues amongst immigrant groups and the general public. So for example taking this article: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2010/04/19/heart-disease-ethnicity.html, we are talking about the risk of heart attacks amongst different ethnic groups. Heart attacks are most certainly a matter pertaining to cardiology. I hope this can help clear up any misunderstanding about the importance of his being quoted in these sorts of articles and it's pertinence to cardiology. I know that Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and so I hope I can learn to be a better part of the community going forward as I am new to this. I would like to build up the cardiology aspect of Wiki, and hopefully include more prominent individuals in the cardiology field. Even if we unfortunately end up disagreeing I would like to better understand your point of view. Ebrawer (talk) 04:13, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Quick off the mark

Can you please review where I'm up to with this article and confirm whether you think the speedy tags you've added really need be there ? I accept that it could do with more Categories-Sticks66 00:11, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Can you please advise me of your specific notability concern regarding this guy ?-Sticks66 04:14, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
There are a couple of issues, the article is about an individual; however, the majority of the references support the business. I don't see how the article meets the requirements of WP:BIO using reliable sources. ttonyb (talk) 04:26, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
The 1st criteria for Notability of a Creative Professional is "person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors". The accolades section cites two Hall of Fame admissions and a 3rd acknowledgment from the Advertising Fedn of Aust. The quote in that cited article from Howcroft, then President of the AFA. says "Mo and Jo were the Lennon and McCartney of Australian advertising. For two decades they dominated advertising in a way we might never see again". The cited AWARD Hall of Fame article names the ten leading Australian advertising peers/successors who selected Johnston. I don't see how the subject fails to meet the widely-cited-by-peers criteria. -Sticks66 04:45, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello Ttonyb1. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Kinematic Self-Replicating Machines (book), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Page is now clearly not a test page (it has developed since you tagged it). I'm not sure it meets WP:Notability (books), but it's not speediable. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 18:54, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Social Work and Spirituality

Hello Ttonyb1. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Social Work and Spirituality to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe WP:CSD#A1 applies to the page in question. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 20:12, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

John Carlin -- co-founder Red Hot + Funny Garbage

Hey Ttonyb1 -- can you explain GHits and GNews? We're trying to update J Carlin's site to be more relevant -- we added more diverse references, etc -- our biggest problem is that (A) some of the references we have are old and (B) John tends to talk about his projects and not himself. But his work has appeared everywhere. Please advise! Thanks Lorraine —Preceding unsigned comment added by LorrSG (talkcontribs) 20:58, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Rachel Roxx

Hello Roleplayer, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Rachel Roxx, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I can't say this would survive AFD, but it does just sneak through A7. Speedy deletion declined: Anthro Corporation

Hello. I declined your speedy deletion tag of Anthro Corporation, and explained why on the Talk:Anthro Corporation page. I think the article and its sources prove at least some notability, at least enough to decline the speedy. That's not to say it would survive AfD, but I don't believe it's speedy-able. GorillaWarfare talk 02:04, 13 November 2010 (UTC) it would have been better to tell me how to fix it rather than delete it. Facebook and coutless other sites are listed. Thanks, I did use the function; however, my fat fingers messed up that simple process. My best to you. ttonyb (talk) 06:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Did you read the note I placed on the talk page before nominating this article for deletion? futurebird (talk) 15:17, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Your rant provided nothing to establish notability for the article and I ignored the rather naive, possibly uncivil comment. ttonyb (talk) 16:20, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
There was nothing "rant-like" or uncivil about any of my comments. I wish you had taken the time to talk with me about this before putting this article up for deletion. It would have saved us all a good deal of hassle and time. You could have raised your concerns about notability on the talk page. I feel that your unilateral move for deletion was hasty and poorly thought out-- it was also a bad idea given the very valid concerns I had raised on the talk page. Let's try to work together and listen to each other more in the future. Best, futurebird (talk) 21:38, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I agree we should try to work together. My best to you. ttonyb (talk) 22:20, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

John Carlin, Funny Garbage and others

Hello. We've added some more references, etc to Mr. Carlin's page and are hoping you will find this adequate. We're still figuring this out -- so your help is appreciated. Thanks Lorraine —Preceding unsigned comment added by LorrSG (talkcontribs) 15:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Since the article is in AfD, the decision will be made by interested editors, not just myself. ttonyb (talk) 16:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

can you give me any tips?

i understand and respect the fact that you are trying to keep to the Wikipedia articles clean. If it wasn't for people like you, Wikipedia wouldn't be what it is today. I worked really hard gathering all the info to make the article regarding Matthew Edward Hall and would hate to see all the time and effort go down the drain.

but if there is anyway you can give me some tips to keep it live, or give me tips on how to improve it so if it is deleted, i can try to redo it the right way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jessicagilmore (talkcontribs) 08:17, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Problems with the page on TPS Pakistan

Hi, i am trying to become a good contributor to wikipedia and i appreciate people like you who take time out and fix things around here. I agree that a page on TPS Pakistan does look like an advertisement, but what i want to know is how is it different from the page on First Data, Euronet Worldwide. I am not referring to pages like Intel, Dell etc because those are big companies and are changing lives. But around here in Pakistan TPS is changing lives of a lot of people. And that too not only in Pakistan but in 35 other countries. I would appreciate some help into how i can fix the page on TPS Pakistan. I have reviewed the pages on Euronet and First Data which are the companies who are into the same market as TPS and SYRSE etc but i dont see any difference in the page i created and in your page. Secondly the logo was taken from a person who works at TPS and i did mention his name over there, how can i fix the licensing of the logo so that it comply's with Wikipedia's guidelines.

Thanks in advance. (Hariswaheed (talk) 18:51, 18 November 2010 (UTC))

Greetings. You removed my quotation here. I thought the author's observations were relevant to explaining the unusual themes of the opera. If I were just to paraphrase, it wouldn't have the same flavor as the original text. I thought by citing the reference and making it a block quote, this would be acceptable, especially since it is contained in the "Review" section. Please tell me why you disagree. --Thomprod (talk) 19:00, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Copying such a large quote as such is seen as a copyright violation. Citing the source does not absolve the issue. You can paraphrase and cite the original source of the text. ttonyb (talk) 22:13, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
I added the review back in as a paraphrase along with a better citation. Is it OK now? --Thomprod (talk) 00:16, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
It resolves the copyright issue. Thanks... ttonyb (talk) 00:19, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

hey, why did you nominate my article for deletion? its on a very notable topic, one of the top gay websites, other similar articles exist for manhunt, gay.com, adam4adam and many porno companies as well. the article is sourced with reliable sources. the social network has hundreds of thousands of members worldwide.

The article does not appear to meet the criteria in WP:WEB. The needs to be supported by WP:RS. ttonyb (talk) 02:07, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
there clearly was a cause, there is nothing uncited, there are no cn tags so i am confusedHemanetwork (talk) 20:00, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
CN tags are not needed to apply the {{refimprove}}. The entire article need more references to support the article. As indicated in the AfD, "The article is not well sourced. The sources are only brief mentions of the site that may prove its existence, but are not adequate secondary sources." ttonyb (talk) 20:03, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Erik Shaw

What was the reasoning for this deletion? The Interview was conducted and Mr Shaw is doing and did some amazing things in the Veteran/Military leadership Field and has worked with multiple celebrities and professional athletes who he didn't name but had photo's and I thought the content was justified for this site... Any suggestions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Govguy (talkcontribs) 05:29, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

The article failed to meet the criteria in WP:BIO using WP:RS. Take a look at the criteria and let me know if you have any questions. ttonyb (talk) 05:51, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Mr.Shaw

We revised it a little to get closer to the standards.. Mr Shaw in the Western Pa region and in the Veteran Advocate arena has made a name for him self and off the record has worked with Congress and other political leaders to create more opportunities for our Veterans.

This is difficult for us to meet these standards do to the fact Mr Shaw is not a household celebrity and is up and coming writer. His Contributions to The United States Military's wounded should be recognized and shouldn't be downplayed because he is not a movie star. I ask that MR Shaws page be allowed to stay until completion of the book. Should the book not be completed then deletion is warranted. The Book is in progress however with a large majority of the proceeds going to help our disabled veterans. The book is also going to be marketed to become a docudrama that will hopefully create some more funding to help soldiers with PTSD.

None of this at this current time can be added to to wiki page but we hope in time we can add this and more..

We can also add photos of MR Shaw giving his one of his power speeches and we would like to add that to the page if possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Govguy (talkcontribs) 21:18, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi. You recently nominated the above article for deletion. I was just wondering if you could please explain what you mean by "GHIts and GNEWS". Also I do not understand what you mean by "The references listed are short single item statements within a bigger article about another topic.". The references all talk about the Sudden Impact Entertainment Company and their work. I can only find one source which is loosely related if that's what you mean. Thanks Themeparkgc  Talk  04:21, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for asking. The G in GHits and GNEWS stands for Google. So Google hits and Google News. The references you have provided are not about the company they only indicate the company was involved in the event. They are not "non-trivial". ttonyb (talk) 04:26, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
What about the two magazine articles then? [2] and [3]. They mention the company and its foundation. Themeparkgc  Talk  04:35, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
The Attraction Management article appears to be primary research about the individual and not really about the company. Sane with the Parkworld Magazine article. See WP:RS for more information about references. ttonyb (talk) 04:41, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Information about Harris and his work is that of the company. They are about Harris' company which he operates with a partner. He only employs others temporarily as scare actors and operators of the attractions. Therefore any reference to his work is actually a reference to the company's work. Themeparkgc  Talk  04:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps, but the article lacks secondary sources. ttonyb (talk) 05:00, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Mr.Shaw

I apologize... We are leaning here as we go.

We are hoping to get some sort of resolve soon.. THANK YOU for you help. I wish there was more to provide by all we have is photo's. There are professional Athletes, Writers, Actors and newscasters who could help with notability but we just are unable to reach out to them for something like this. It's frustrating but we knew this would be the issue and are just grateful we where able to make it this far. It's not easy making a veterans advocate a celebrity!

(Govguy (talk) 05:16, 24 November 2010 (UTC)).

Marshal D. Carper

I see that you nominated Marshal D. Carper for speedy deletion under CSD A7.
