Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Draft:Teachingdenethor, and I noticed that your username, "Teachingdenethor", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. [edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:27, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My name is not associated with the company about which I have submitted a description. The name is related to Lord of the rings. Also, I do not promote the company. I decided to describe this company because after going to your link, I saw that there is no information about this company: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_networking_hardware_vendors Therefore, I decided to fix the information on your page Teachingdenethor (talk) 12:47, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Your name is OK. However, you appear the same person as the blocked editor User:Teltonika1, and representatives of that company have been violating WP:COI and having their article deleted since 2018. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 16:17, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am not related to the username you mentioned. I am not an employee of the company and I am not a representative, I am student. I was looking for information about all networking device manufacturers for the project and I saw that there was no information about this company, so I thought that I should write something about it so that I could refer to the Wikipedia source in my thesis. Teachingdenethor (talk) 04:39, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Wikipedia isn't intended for use in scholarly works(though I suppose that's up to your school/professors). In any event, it appears that the company does not meet our criteria for an article- Wikipedia is not a database of companies where existence permits an article, this is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion. We will need to know what edits you intend to make instead now that you know you won't be permitted to edit about this company. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:28, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. About this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_networking_hardware_vendors Teltonika Networks is not described in this list. I use your wikipedia page as a source to show what companies exist and when they were founded. My thesis advisor allows me to use this link, but the problem is that Teltonika Networks does not have information about when the company was founded. Can you enter this or would I write it myself? My use of the Checkuser tool unambiguously connects you to Teltonika1 - there is no point denying it, either you are the same person, or you are two different people using the same computer to write about the same subject. As such, I am denying this unblock request, and I am unpgrading this to a CU block. Girth Summit (blether) 10:37, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • You have placed your comments and unblock requests in the middle of the page. All new posts should be placed at the bottom of the page to preserve the chronological order of the discussion. I have re-ordered these to appear correctly.
  • You tampered with an unblock request that was marked as reviewed by an administrator. Do not do this again.
  • You've been told repeatedly that your current username is unacceptable. You must use the {{unblock-spamun}} template to make a proper unblock request and submit a new username that conforms with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • General questions should be written as regular comments and not enclosed within an unblock request.
