I'm not saying much at the moment.

Bouzouki

[edit]

I'm not totally happy with the picture of your Bouzouki. As you probably know it is not an actual trichordo, but a tetrachordo stringed with six strings. I know this practice is rather common, but for the article we should use a picture of an actual trichordo bouzouki. Iago4096 18:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken! My bouzouki is very definitely a trichordo, the neck is not wide enough for eight strings. The reason it has eight tuners is that it is a replica of a bouzouki made for Markos Vamvakaris that had eight tuners. This was a common practise among luthiers in the 30s, they used mandolin tuners as they could not get tuners in sets of three. The Real Walrus 22:54, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, one lives and learns, I guess. Thank you for the clarification! :-) Iago4096 19:15, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it catches a lot of people out!The Real Walrus 14:48, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

How's it going? I saw on the Skyhammer page that you helped program it, and thought that That was pretty awesome. Heh sorry to use wikipedia as a mere messaging service, but hey, if that's what it takes haha. Get back at me. —Ƿōdenhelm (talk) 06:57, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't do much to Skyhammer, apart from finding all the holes in the landscape (hundreds), completely rewriting the shopping experience, redoing all the text blitting, adding the intro and outro stuff, sneaking in a cheat mode, and a couple of other things. You can find my email address on my Rebetiko site. Google for doctor dark rebetiko. The Real Walrus (talk) 00:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Hasiklidika

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hasiklidika, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Says who? Fails WP:VER

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. andy (talk) 21:46, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am not spending time trying to make the article fit. I am putting it on the web where you will not be able to alter it. The Real Walrus (talk) 10:40, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Hasiklidika, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hasiklidika. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. andy (talk) 10:33, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have to be joking, right? WP is certainly not Metaxas, and we don't have any bias against Rembetiko or the Hasiklides. If you have books on them, I suggest that the best way to save the article is to expand it, not moan about it... As I said, I for one really would like to see an article on the subject. Respectfully, Constantine 06:31, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Constantine! I'm afraid you will find the people in control of Wikipedia are very rigid in their thinking, and if they say Hasiklidikes are not interesting then as far as they are concerned, that's it, and no amount of sensible discussion will change their opinions. I modestly point out that there are other sources of information on this subject on the web, and frankly, I prefer to spend my time improving my little contribution rather than arguing with the Metaxas fans on here. Google, and you will find my stuff. The Real Walrus (talk) 10:34, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
