Your user page, User:UKFTorg/sandbox, has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be advertising which only promoted or publicized someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 331dot (talk) 08:23, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 08:23, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi 331dot, apologies, I believe I originally used an inappropriate username. It's my first time creating a Wikipedia account and I find it challenging to keep track of all rules but will try harder in the future! Also I did not intend to use my account for advertising and promotion, although I did want to create a Wikipedia page for the trade association I am working for. I understood I can display that I am related to the organisation when creating the article? The article I drafted does not contain 'fluffy' 'promotional' language but rather is describes the organisation. I tried to keep it as objective as possible and to quote many external sources. Let me know how that sounds! UKFTorg (talk) 08:41, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Once you have read and understood the relevant policies, but not before, you are free to make a new unblock request. Yamla (talk) 10:01, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed your request for proper display; a heretofore uninvolved admin will review it. I will say we don't have "pages for" a topic, but articles about topics. Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about an organization and what it does- articles about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization and what makes it important/significant/influential as they see it(not as the organization itself sees it), showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Interviews, press releases, announcements of routine activities, and brief mentions do not establish notability. Please read conflict of interest and paid editing(which can be any paid relationship, and is not limited to specific payment for editing). 331dot (talk) 08:51, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for fixing my username. Understood the articles about topics note. I'll read the articles you linked in your previous message to check if the organisation could be relevant for an article and to learn more about the conflict of interest and paid editing topics. Lots of reading to do! UKFTorg (talk) 09:04, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Yamla, I have now read and understood the Wikipedia policies in question. May I please request to be unblocked? UKFTorg (talk) 08:27, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to make a new unblock request below for someone else to review. You will need to demonstrate that you understand the relevant policies. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 331dot! OK, will do, thanks. UKFTorg (talk) 10:09, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hello, I am contacting you because my account has been blocked and I would like to request for it to be unblocked. My account was blocked because it appeared to be promoting an organisation, which I now understand is against Wikipedia’s policies. My username violated the Wikipedia policies since it reflected an organisation. I believe the block came from at least this guideline stating that a username should not: ‘imply that you are not here to build an encyclopedia or will use Wikipedia for purposes that it is not created for’. The other reason for the block, I believe, was that creating an article on an organisation I am linked to creates a conflict of interest and could even be seen as spam. It is clear to me that Wikipedia is not an advertising space and should not be used as such. If unblocked, I would like to become an active editor of Wikipedia, to help grow and improve the platform’s encyclopedic content. I would like to be especially active with topics such as art, art history and fashion. I would also like to disclose that I would not receive any compensation to edit Wikipedia articles. However, if my situation was to change, I would update my profile and account according to the paid contribution disclosure policy. The new username I’d like to use is 249jul. Many thanks UKFTorg (talk) 10:28, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

I've fixed the formatting of your request to properly propose your new username. Someone else will review your request, but editing about fashion would squarely fall within your conflict of interest. Note that you do not need to be specifically paid to make edits to be a paid editor- employment counts. If you work for the UKFT, you must make the paid editing disclosure. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
