Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, XWordInfo. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page The New York Times crossword puzzle, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:

I did not change any text on the page, merely corrected the URLs from old ones to valid new ones. Most changes were http to https. I did not write any of the original text, nor did I alter any existing text. Thanks. XWordInfo (talk) 02:19, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I agree, you didn't make any inappropriate edits. However, we do have a pretty rigid policy regarding usernames that indicate that the account represents, among other things, a website. You need a personal account name; something like Myname_at_XWordInfo would be just fine. Make an unblock-spamun request as described above, and make it clear that your intent is to correct obsolete URLs to XWordInfo, and you should be OK. --jpgordon^{𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇} 04:19, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
