Template:Citation needed

  • Speedy delete. I don't see any need for such a template as we don't cite sources or provide footnotes. I'm listing it here just to give the user a day or two's notice. -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 19:36, 2 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete. I'll look into updating the help files to explain this. --(WT-en) inas 21:40, 2 December 2010 (EST)
Project:External links mentions not to use footnotes, but maybe we should expand upon it. -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 07:39, 3 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete Questionable information should either be removed outright or taken to the Talk page for discussion. If we absolutely need to know a source then the Talk page is where the hard evidence can be given. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 15:02, 3 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete vfd not the place to argue policy on sources. Current policy is that they are not required, therefore this template is redundant. --(WT-en) inas 00:18, 10 December 2010 (EST)
I wasn't meaning to argue policy. Users have requested such proof on the talk page before. It's current practice and sometimes the only fair way to settle fact disputes. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 04:08, 10 December 2010 (EST)
Agreed. --(WT-en) inas 04:32, 11 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete Can someone else just confirm that these articles are just to make you do a tour of specific cafes/restaurants, and aren't really itineraries at all? --(WT-en) inas 19:13, 9 December 2010 (EST)
  • Keep. Created by a reasonably well-established Wikivoyager, who has done plenty of good work in good faith on articles around the globe, and it's beyond the outline threshold. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 09:42, 12 December 2010 (EST)
Okay. --(WT-en) inas 17:19, 12 December 2010 (EST)
  • Keep - I do find it odd that your first meal in Azerbaijan is actually Lebanese and that the first two nights' dinners are at the same place (Also wonder why you automatically get sent to Georgia at the end of your trip), but there seems enough to sketch out each day and be potentially useful. (WT-en) Texugo 22:18, 12 December 2010 (EST)
  • Keep also. Texugo, Georgia might actually be a good place to send a traveler to end a stay in Azerbaijan. If I read this correctly, there are over 70 countries, whose citizens do not need a visa to enter or stay in Georgia for up to a year. According to our Caucasus#Border_Crossing article, the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia are closed for obvious reasons and I imagine it would be difficult and dangerous for travelers to head into Iran (Tehran has, after all, arrested Americans hikers in Iraq for "entering" Iran illegally and being spies). But, I refer this to others with more experience than I in the Caucasus. Peter, do you have any insight? -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 15:58, 13 December 2010 (EST)
Not saying that it isn't a logical choice to continue on by land, just thought it was weird that it was presented as an obvious only choice. The article doesn't tell you where to enter Azerbaijan from. Why should it deal with where you go afterwards? (WT-en) Texugo 22:03, 14 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Kept. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Article for a body of water in Cameroon that is so small it doesn't even have a Wikipedia article.

  • Delete, or if Google Maps would behave I might suggest a redirect. (WT-en) Texugo 20:22, 13 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:35, 29 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Can't find any information on this place or the alternate name suggested.

  • Delete, or redirect if someone can find an appropriate place to redirect. - (WT-en) Texugo 20:22, 13 December 2010 (EST)
  • Redirect to Karur (man, was that obscure). --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:41, 29 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Redirected to Karur. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

A stupa, and hence only an attraction, which has no place to stay. Usually visited by daytrip buses from Patna and perhaps other places? The article text was all copyvio from http://www.buddhist-temples.com/bihar/kesaria-stupa.html, which I removed.

  • Redirect to Patna? (Is there a closer destination for which we have an article?) - (WT-en) Texugo 20:31, 13 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Redirected to Patna. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete Redirect to Tips for flying per Peter. While this might be a valid travel article for someone interested in writing one, the current article is a copyvio. Additionally, general preference is to add information on travel topics to existing articles (in this case Tips for flying) and split it out only after discussion and a consensus that a separate article is warranted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 17:23, 18 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete Tips for flying doesn't look very useful, but this is definitely not necessary. Airport security is extremely simple to get through and they will quickly correct you if you are not doing it correctly. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 21:29, 18 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete Redirect to Tips for flying per Peter. A blatant copyvio originally written with a somewhat patronising tone and from a quite myopic cultural standpoint. It is an appallingly US centric viewpoint and has been placed on WT by someone who apparently has their vision limited to that available from within the socio-political boundaries and cognitive limitations of the United States of America. Absolute rubbish, get rid of it. As (WT-en) Ryan hints, airport and airline security issues should be dealt with as a topic within Tips for flying rather than an article in it's own right. Let this highly subjective GWOT inspired compliance inducing nonsense get treated as it should be, as a topic within a bigger picture. WT should not promote this sort of naive, myopic and culturally filtered content as being of worth or value to travellers. (WT-en) felix 09:40, 19 December 2010 (EST)
  • Delete - if just to be rid of the patronizing tone. Who writes this junk? (I feel strongly about this) (WT-en) PerryPlanet Talk 10:32, 19 December 2010 (EST)
    • P.S. Ironically, I'm writing this from the airport! And the advice in said article didn't seem too applicable... (WT-en) PerryPlanet Talk 10:33, 19 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Redirected to Tips for flying. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Speedily delete. Nonsense. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Roundtheworld (talkcontribs)

  • Keep. I deleted the nonsense and moved it to Lospalos, which is the correct name of the East Timor town (it is often misspelled as Los Palos). --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:31, 29 December 2010 (EST)

Result: Kept. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 19:45, 14 January 2011 (EST)

Speedy delete Not a valid travel article topic. An adolescent rant. Content removed, now an empty article. (WT-en) felix 09:23, 14 January 2011 (EST)

  • Speedy deleted! Thanks, Felix for catching up. (WT-en) jan 10:23, 14 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:58, 15 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete. This is an orphaned image that is a duplicate (albeit in a smaller size) of Image:0941.jpg. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 22:01, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:58, 15 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete. Orphaned image of what appears to be a breakwall. It's poor quality, and without some indication of where it was taken I fail to see how it could ever be incorporated into an article. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 22:01, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:58, 15 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete. Orphaned image, and it's of such poor quality that I don't know what it's supposed to be showing. In addition, the caption indicates it was uploaded to promote a hotel, something we typically discourage. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 22:01, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:58, 15 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete. These are duplicate orphaned images of a drawn figure. There is no indication that they are original works or that they can be re-licensed CC-SA, so are suspect as copyvio. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 22:01, 1 January 2011 (EST)

Page developed by new contributor unaware of Wikivoyage rules. Contents now removed and merged into Ramsgate. (WT-en) Shep 01:14, 21 January 2011 (EST)

Redirect for attribution purposes. (WT-en) LtPowers 08:50, 21 January 2011 (EST)

This is currently a redirect to Tanzania, where I don't even think it's given mention. Even if it is, surely there is a real location to redirect it to that is a little more specific than "Tanzania". If there is not, then either this should become an article or be deleted until someone with more knowledge makes it an article or finds a town/city article to place it in. Redirecting it to Tanzania is nothing more than a geography lesson, completely useless for a traveler. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 19:30, 15 January 2011 (EST)

Looking at Google Maps , it appears to be in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, but it's not even mentioned there either. (WT-en) Sumone10154 20:56, 15 January 2011 (EST)
So redirect there? (WT-en) Pashley 21:03, 15 January 2011 (EST)
It is a volcano in Tanzania, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ol_Doinyo_Lengai It is in Ngorongoro conservation area and redirecting there seems a reasonable option Last eruption 1966. (WT-en) Peter (Southwood) Talk 13:05, 16 January 2011 (EST)
That redirect seems much better than the general redirect to the nation's article. Let's just make sure it's given mention in the article so that we don't run into the same issue later. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 17:59, 16 January 2011 (EST)
Ok I redirected it (WT-en) Sumone10154 17:10, 21 January 2011 (EST)

Article about the somewhat famous music venue in Amsterdam, directly copied from Wikipedia:Paradiso (Amsterdam). There are other geographic uses of the term (see Wikipedia:Paradiso) so simply redirecting to the city district where the venue is located (Amsterdam/Canal Ring) might not be the best idea. Delete? (WT-en) Eco84 23:16, 1 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete - I'm sure thousands of restaurants, clubs, venues, and hotels across the Spanish speaking world have this as at least part of their name. (WT-en) Texugo 04:33, 2 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:08, 23 January 2011 (EST)

Result: Deleted. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:08, 23 January 2011 (EST)

  • Delete. This is an advertisement for a tour company and thus doesn't meet the Project:What is an article criteria. The contributor did add some useful information to the Tonle Sap Lake article, so rather than a purely promotional contribution I think this article is just a misunderstanding of what is appropriate content for Wikivoyage. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 12:05, 28 January 2011 (EST)
