Student content pages have been moved to their corresponding sections, with redirects left behind so they can find their content based on the previous name. Thank you for writing back. I actually haven't figured it out yet and I was going to have them to do it manually. I'll take a look at the link you sent me however. Thank you.
- See Federal Writers' Project - Life Histories/2018/fall/section 2. I think that will help. Feel free to test it. You don't have to save the page it creates just to see what it does. Duplication of Content
[edit source]Two different students are working on Hester Frye, one as Hester Frye and one as HesterFrye. I went to rename the second one and noticed the issue. Are you allowing students to select the same person in the same section? If so, we should move both pages to a subpage of Hester Frye. A physics prof from Ohio says hello
[edit source]Your effort at Federal Writers' Project - Life Histories/2017/Fall/Section 26 recently came to my attention. Since our fields are so different, we will probably work independently of each other on Wikiversity. But if you need any help with Wikiversity, let me know. One possible overlap might involve students who wish to prepare term papers for a given section "in private" so that competing students don't "borrow" each others' ideas. With its dependence of equations and figures, it is especially important that efforts in Physics and Astronomy be performed directly in wikitext, while in your more prose-oriented field, they could probably compose in MS Word and copy/paste/format onto the public Wikipedia at the last minute.
Anyhow, if you ever want to create a little wikifarm for private student efforts, let me know. My students work on private wikis at wright.miraheze. I am so comfortable with wikitext that I prefer to write my research papers in wikitext, and later submit a pdf file to the journal. See my submission on Bell's Theorem to the American Journal of Physics.

Help with deleting a subpage

Thank you Dave. We're teaching several sections of this project this summer and I was wondering if you knew what this message meant: "Warning: this action has been automatically identified as potentially harmful." It goes on to talk about unconstructive actions. This was on a site a student created himself. I appreciate any advice you could give. rocki01
- Wikiversity has been under attack by an unstable individual posting random attacks and useless content everywhere. We have had to implement filters to restrict edits by new users. If you can provide usernames, we can tag their accounts as confirmed users and they should have less difficulty getting started. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 20:16, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- That's good to know. Unfortunately, their projects are due tomorrow and I'm only the instructor of one of the courses, so I can't get the usernames in time. - I adjusted the filter so that if they are working under the Federal Writers' Project, they should be okay. They may still have problems if they are editing in their user space or sandbox. - Thank you again. I really appreciate it. Yeah, students are waiting until the last minute, which is tough since we're doing a 15 week semester in 4.5 weeks. -- rocki01
- I looked through the abuse log. For anyone who tried to create a page with content that was never successful, I've copied what they tried to add and created the page for them. Some are in their sandbox. Most are under their FWP-LH section.
- Going forward, it would be best to have students either create their person pages first with some type of template, or have them edit their sandboxes first with some type of template. Either approach would give them a page to start with, and make them more likely to be successful in adding content afterwards.
