Simon Blackwell is an English snooker player.[1]

Career

He became the North West Open Amateur Snooker Champion in 2019.[2]

Blackwell defeated Jake Robinson in the final of the 2023/24 EPSB Open Series play-offs in Woking to secure the title, finishing above Peter Devlin on count back, and gaining free entry into the 2024 Q School.[3]

He performed well at 2024 Q School, securing a win over the experienced James Cahill.[4], and reaching the latter rounds of the first event before he was defeated by eventual winner Allan Taylor.[5] At the second event he reached the final round with a 4-1 win over Hamin Hussein, but lost against Antoni Kowalski.[6][7]

top-up player competing as an amateur at the 2024 Championship League in Leicester in June 2024 against professionals Mostafa Dorgham, Ashley Carty and Elliot Slessor.[8]

Match fixing

In 2022, Blackwell received an 18-month suspension after being found guilty of attempting to fix the outcome of a match. Competing in the EPSB Open Series he approached another player and offered £200 to ensure he won the two frames he required to guarantee a spot in the top four.[9][10]
