Title
Roman gold polygonal finger-ring
Description
English: Description: A complete cast Roman gold polygonal finger-ring of Henig's type IX, dating to the period AD 200-300. The ring is formed of a circular hoop comprising seven irregular lozenge-shaped facets of similar dimensions, all plain and undecorated. The surface of this ring is roughly finished on the inside and out.

Measurements: The finger ring measures 22.9mm in external diameter. The hoop is 7mm wide and 1.6mm thick. The ring weighs 4.27 grams.

Discussion: Two parallel finger rings have been recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database; HAMP-F7A356 (2011T861), BUC-E7B767 (2013T669). Both are of third century date and were declared treasure under the Treasure Act 1996.

Conclusion: In terms of age and precious metal content, the ring therefore meets the criteria for Treasure under the terms of The Treasure Act 1996.
