I'll give this a review shortly. One thing I did notice right off the bat is quite a few sportskeeda sources used in the article. That's generally considered an unreliable source since pretty much anyone can publish an article there. I can let the stats one slide since that's basic info but the stuff that's sourced to articles should be replaced with stronger sources. Wizardman 00:16, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Wizardman Thanks! This was part of a recent discussion as well in which it was brought to my notice. As it is part of WP:RSP, I will replace those sources. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 08:07, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Looks good now. I didn't realize the cite was unreliable until that discussion myself. The image is also good so that aspect passes. Prose review will either come tomorrow or Wednesday. Wizardman 02:04, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Prose review:

  • The lead reads a little bit oddly. The second paragraph works well explaining 01 to 08, but then it just jumps to his career stats and retirement without touching on what's in between. That seems rather surprising considering 3 of the 4 international sections are post-08. Rather than a tweak or two it might be more beneficial to just do a full lead rewrite so that it flows better. I have rewritten the lead, sufficiently expanding it. Do let me know in case of any further suggestions
  • "His season included two centuries including his high-score of 230* against Saurashtra." Is the * significant on the number or is that just an error? If the former then that should probably be explained. It is significant. Have added the link to not out.
  • "After his performances in the Ranji Trophy, he was selected in the South Zone squad" should it be to the South Zone squad, or maybe it should be reworded a different way.Reworded it.

More to come, I intended to get through it tonight but the rest will have to wait. Wizardman 02:05, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Here's the rest:

  • "He was playing in a Ranji trophy match at the time and was called mid-way to make his test debut." So was he literally partway through a cricket match when he got promoted, i.e. during the few days a match may go? That's how it reads, as a non-expert in cricket just making sure I'm reading that right, if it's wrong you might want to reword.Yes, that is right. He was part of a match that was already underway when he was called to the Indian team on a contingency.
  • "But his performances were enough to be selected in the Indian squad for the 2010 ICC World Twenty20." A sentence shouldn't start with but, reword.Done
  • "But he again fared poorly in the ODIs, scoring only 100 runs across six matches." Same as aboveDone
  • "He is known for his scoring shots down the ground." Not entirely sure what that means, I think it's missing a word or two.It is a term generally used in cricket where you hit the ball in the air over the infield circle. I have elaborated it. Let me know if it is fine.

Overall the prose seems manageable. It gets a little stat heavy and inconsistent at times, but in most cases there's not really a better way to rewrite it. Article on hold. Wizardman 16:36, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
