Eden project

edit

Does anyone who has worked on this article (particularly those at UW) want to create an article for the Eden Project? There is already an Eden Project article, but it is for something completely different. Perhaps something along the lines of Eden Project (computer science) would be apt. I found a few links by googling "jerre noe" "eden project", but honestly I don't know anything about it and therefore don't feel qualified to create it. It seems significant enough, however, to warrant its own article. Thanks! romarin [talk ] 01:48, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Probably so. I was there as a grad student at the time, but I wasn't on the project. I believe it was a project to look into what might constitute the next generation of operating systems and of networking. I believe that Ed Lazowska and Henry M. "Hank" Levy, both of whom deserve articles and are among the most prominent current members of the U.W. Computer Science faculty, were involved with it. Also Guy Almes, no longer at U.W., I believe, but still a prominent computer scientist. By the way, Lazowska remarked to me some time around 1981 that the name was originally supposed to be an acronym, but they could never remember for what; my joke at the time was that it stood for fEDErally fuNded.
Anyway, you might find more with those names, and I'm sure that any of them would answer a query letter. - Jmabel | Talk 00:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks for the advice. It's possible too that Russ Noe knows something about it, and I'll actually be seeing him at some point during the holidays, so I'll talk to him about it. At any rate, I know he knows Ed Lazowska and probably Henry Levy too. There are probably a number of people who know about all this who haven't really thought about putting it on Wikipedia yet. romarin [talk ] 18:35, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
