Image quality
editI find myself in discussion with a wiki-comrade on the relative merits of these images:
According to me:
- The white car is at a better angle.
- The reflections on the red car are more distracting than those on the white car (though both images have issues in respect of reflections and shadows: many pictures of cars do.)
- The background for the red car is messy and features a distracting blue car.
- The background for the white car is excessively pastoral
- The image of the red car is savagely overcropped (though it would probably be possible to address this).
- I just noticed that the red car is conventionally dirty while the white car is unnaturally clean.
The advocate for the picture of the red car has been twice invited to say why he prefers the picture of the red car, but has resisted the temptation to justify his opinion. Were he to do so, we might learn something helpful. He has given an opinion that the picture of the red car is "miles better" which is fine as a slogan for advertising candies, but doesn't really tell us too much about his thought processes. Which is where this started.
Unfortunately one of the photographs was taken by me, so I cannot claim complete objectivity. And a lot of this stuff comes down to how you see stuff. Differing personal opinions. Nevertheless, I am genuinely curious to know if our wiki-comrade is on to something that's obvious to everyone else but that I am missing. Accordingly, I would - maybe he would too - be grateful of you have any opinions to share on this. And if you did, thank you Regards Charles01 (talk) 21:03, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
- My general opinion is that the image is too white and the car seems too bright .... Unfortunately it being white and it being a sunny day don't mix, Bigger or smaller the Red Cavalier can be seen better and overall the image is hell of a lot better. –Davey2010Talk 23:48, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
Correct Information added
editThe Expression was also a pre-facelift model. Using the 16sv engine. Also the 4x4 8v had the 20seh same as the Pre-facelift SRi model.
The white Cavalier hatch charles posted is a much better photo than the banger photo we have now with missing wing mirror and filthy dirty — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sircheat89 (talk • contribs) 23:33, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
- I assumed this image was the same as the first rear image hence my reversion, It's noticibly different so as such I've self-reverted, No comment on the other image as that's all above. –Davey2010Talk 23:52, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
Ascona rear contradiction
editIn the section titled "Mark I (1975–1981)", it says "It ended up with the front of an Opel Manta B model and the rearend of an Opel Ascona B model." However, the very first picture in that section captioned "Vauxhall Cavalier GLS Coupe rear", shows a rear end that looks exactly like an Opel Manta rear with the slant lights, not the Ascona B/Vauxhall Cavalier rear which has squarish rear lights. In fact there is no picture of the square rear lights on the whole page. --Cancun (talk) 15:29, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
