edit Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Hillel the Elder. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. - The Golden Rule states: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Silver Rule states: "Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you." Hillel's saying, "What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow", is therefore an instance of the Silver Rule, not the Golden Rule. Cf. Confucius' saying that "What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others", which is also regarded as an instance of the Silver Rule.
- That is all. There is no attempt at vandalism here, just an honest attempt to improve the article and make it more factual. If you agree with the above, feel free to incorporate it into Hillel the Elder in a way that you deem acceptable. If not, I won't press the issue.

- The wiki page Golden Rule lists both Hillel and Confucius as examples and doesn't mention any "silver" rule, nor is there a separate page for that. There was at one point but I guess a consensus was reached to fold it in and not distinguish. Googling doesn't turn up any great sources, seems to be a niche Christian thing.
