PWHL

Hello. I've opened a discussion at the talkpage of WP:HOCKEY, concerning usage of diacritics in the PWHL. Would you please give input there? GoodDay (talk) 15:55, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

I missed your 'in use' template, sorry if I caused any issues.18abruce (talk) 22:01, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

@18abruce: Thanks for letting me know so quickly! I hadn’t gotten very far into my edit, so no harm done :) Spitzmauskc (talk) 22:04, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
I was in there, then my daughter asked me about dinner so I got distracted. When I saved I was a little worried about what might have happened, glad it was not too bad.18abruce (talk) 22:07, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
In the past I have been a little concerned about notability concerns so I have not invested much time in these articles, but if you see comparables from the men's articles (top ten scoring etc.) let me know and I am happy to do them.18abruce (talk) 22:10, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@18abruce: I’m always in favor of preserving as much data as possible on Wikipedia, particularly since the IIHF doesn’t have a great record of maintaining documents online after events have concluded. I definitely support adding basic tables for scoring and goaltending. As for notability, there isn’t much in English but I’ve come across decent coverage of the D1A tournament in Hungarian and there are some quality sources in German and Italian, too. Let me know if you need any specific references and I’ll see what I can track down for you. If there’s anything else I can help with, please ask! Spitzmauskc (talk) 22:20, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Category:IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Hello Spitzmauskc, do you remember our last conversation? (Click here.) I want to let you know that the category has been moved. So now we can move those subcategories as well. What name do you suggest? Should we change all subcategory names from 1999 to 2024? Maiō T. (talk) 10:38, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

@Maiō T.: Hello! I'm happy to see that the category we'd discussed was moved without issue. For the subcategories, I see no reason not to use YEAR + "IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship(s)" for each subcat from 1999 to present. As for the use of singular or plural ('championship' versus 'championships'), either way would be fine as long as the subcats remain consistent. What are your thoughts? Spitzmauskc (talk) 17:40, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
OK, let's use the plural version (Category:Year IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championships). Other categories dealing with ice hockey world championships also use the plural, for example Category:2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships‎ or Category:2024 IIHF U18 Women's World Championships‎. So now I will wait for your reply and then I could start the process of category moves. Maiō T. (talk) 15:23, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
@Maiō T.: Sounds good! It would be appropriate for the U18 Women's World Championships categories to follow the same standard as the senior women's categories. I generally keep to women's ice hockey and don’t feel confident making recommendations about men's tournaments like the men's juniors or men's U18 world championships – questions about those categories should probably be raised with WP:HOCKEY before any action is taken. Spitzmauskc (talk) 15:37, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
OK, I've started the renaming of the women's U18 category, (click here) and now I'm gonna move those senior categories. ;-) Maiō T. (talk) 16:11, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
