Portal:Paris (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Fourteen-year-old stillborn portal.

One selected article, one selected picture and one DYK from 2005. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 07:21, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete without prejudice to a new portal with a design that does not use subpages and with a maintenance plan. Paris is one of the great cities of the world. You wouldn't know it from this portal with two articles. No maintenance since 2006 because there is nothing to maintain. Robert McClenon (talk) 14:02, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note to closing admin. I don't want in any way to prejudge the outcome ... but if you close this discussion as delete, please can you not remove the backlinks? I have an AWB setup which allows me to easily replace them with links to the next most specific portal(s) (in this case Portal:France), without creating duplicate entries. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:24, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per the nom and Robert M. This nearly 14-year long abandoned portal obviously and completely fails WP:POG's readership (very few), maintainers (none), number of articles (has two, but needs a minimum of 20), and WikiProject involvement guidelines. None of this is suprising when one knows it was created and dumped by its creator in the span of 15 minutes and three edits. While Paris is a great city of the world, I oppose re-creation, unless a dedicated team of topic-knowledgeable, long-term maintainers with a comprehensive portal building and maintenance plan are behind any re-creation attempt. • Delete – that table says it all: cities are not good topic for portals. Levivich 03:51, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, and oppose re-creation. Low readership + minimal content + zero maintenance = clear fail of the WP:POG requirement that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers".
As Levivich notes, cities are not good topic for portals. The last six months of MFDs have repeatedly shown that it is exceptionally rare for even the largest cities in OECD nations to attract enough readers and maintainers to sustain a portal. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 05:35, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
