So far in May, four cyclones have formed, with three being named. The month started with [[Tropical Storm Ialy]], which formed near Comoros and intensified into a compact tropical cyclone. On May 22, Tropical Storm Ewiniar formed southeast of Palau, traversing the Philippines, and bringing heavy rains over the country. Cyclone Remal then formed in the Bay of Bengal on May 24.
