A acuaporina 7 é unha proteína que nos humanos está codificada no xene AQP7 do cromosoma 9.[1][2]
As acuaporinas/proteína intrínseca maior (MIP) son unha familia de canles de membrana selectivos para a auga. A acuaporina 7 ten unha maior similitude de secuencia coa AQP3 e a AQP9 e elas poden formar unha subfamilia. A acuaporina 7 e a AQP3 están na mesma localización cromosómica, o que suxire que a rexión cromosómica 9p13 pode ser un sitio de agrupación ou cluster de acuaporinas. A acuaporina 7 facilita o transporte de auga, glicerol e urea. Pode xogar un importante papel na termorregulación pola súa intervención na suoración e na función do esperma.[2] A súa desregulación foi asociada coa obesidade en humanos.[3]
