Hi! Concerns have been raised about your recent edit batches that apparently add the same incorrect description to many items. Please join the discussion at Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Report_concerning_User:. Bovlb (talk) 16:03, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Partial block

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely for bulk editing over objections. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest it by editing this page and adding the following template with a suitable reason: {{unblock|1=<the reason for your unblock request>}}. If you are logged in, and the option has not been disabled, you may also email the blocking administrator (or any administrator from this list) by using this form. See Wikidata:Guide to appealing blocks for more information.

I have prevented you from editing the main namespace until you have a chance to resolve the concerns that have been raised. Bovlb (talk) 20:20, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Just to add that this block is purely to stop the QS batches. You can be unblocked as soon as you undertake to stop QS batches pending the resolution of the discussion at Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Report_concerning_User:. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 23:58, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:
I wish to make a humble request to be unblocked. I ignorantly committed this crime without knowing its consequences, I pray to be pardoned to sin no more
Unblock reason:
Granted. Let's see the discussion take place before any more QS batches Bovlb (talk) 05:46, 5 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

This template should be archived normally.

Situation resolved

edit

Hi. I wanted to leave this message to confirm that the situation with your batch edits has been checked and the consensus of editors is that you have done nothing wrong.[1] The situation was caused by another user making a mistake with an online translation tool when they checked the meaning of the Dagbani labels you were inserting. The tool was not designed to work with the Dagbani language and the supposed "translations" it provided appeared to be labels that a vandal would add. We are now satisfied that the original report was a mistake and you can resume your batch edits to add Dagbani labels using Quick Statements. A large amount of your previous edits have been reverted, so you may want to create replacement batches to reinsert those missing labels.
The user who made the mistaken report genuinely thought they were helping the project by preventing vandalism. I hope that you are willing to forgive them for their error. From Hill To Shore (talk) 00:49, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for resolving this issue. I would continue with my volunteerism by contributing to Wikipedia and its sister projects including using the QS tool. Thank you. Din-nani1 (talk) 08:25, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Conflicting batch edits

edit

Hi. I notice that you and Achiri Bitamsimli are trying to enter Dagbani labels on the same items, which means you are overwriting each other's work. For example, on Frederick Young (Q5499118).[2] If my recent crash course in Dagbani is correct, I think Achiri Bitamsimli called him a lawyer and you overwrote it with a label calling him a politician. I would suggest you talk to each other and co-ordinate your batch edits. For example, one of you could work on items that include lawyer (Q40348) and the other person makes sure to exclude items with lawyer (Q40348) from their batches. You could follow the same process for any occupation (P106) you are working on. From Hill To Shore (talk) 17:39, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your observation @From Hill To Shore:, I have discussed with @Achiri Bitamsimli: and we have agreed to alert one another anytime one is going to work on a particular batch. This is to avoid conflicting. Din-nani1 (talk) 21:46, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Din-nani1: If it helps, you and @Achiri Bitamsimli could prepare your batches in the same workbook on different sheets so you both know who is doing what. - —M@sssly 09:50, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much @Masssly for your suggestion, I would link up with @Achiri Bitamsimli to create a workbook as suggested. Din-nani1 (talk) 18:45, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
