Abstract
Method for Internet of Things (loT) sensors and GPS based system
for child health monitoring and movement tracking
The present invention is related to a method and system for child health and movement
monitoring based on Internet of Things (loT) sensors and GPS system. More specifically, the
field of the proposed invention is to build a complete automated system for child health and
movement monitoring using Internet of Things (loT) sensors and GPS system using already
available internet infrastructure like internet infrastructure and smartphones. The said
system comprises loT sensors based wearable tag which may be in the form of a bracelet or
any other preferable wearable form which is fastened on the body of the child to be tracked.
The wearable tag may establish local wireless connections within location loT hubs or with
wide area network. The loT based wearable tag establishes local wireless connection through
Bluetooth standard protocol or WiFi protocol while global wireless connections through
standard RFID Zigbee protocol. An electronic wearable tag is registered with each and
individual child to be monitored along with the photo of the child and details of the guardian.
The said system can be accessed through mobile terminal, laptop, personal digital assistant
or any kind of computing device providing user interface and registering child with particular
tag and associating photo of the child and details of guardian/caretaker like contact number,
email-id etc. with the tag through the camera of the said device. Further, the information with
respect to sending notification/alarm of the particular child to be monitored like email-id,
mobile number and any other information are also registered through the User interface. The
wearable tag uses global positioning system to track the movement of the child. If the
movement of the child is not within the permissible premises, then the said system sends
alarm/notification to the caretaker/guardian of the child. The said system also provides the
history of the movement of particular child plotted on the map. The said system is also
competent enough to send alarm/notification in case the wearable tag is detached from the
child. The tag also comprises various loT sensors equipped with various biomedical sensors to
monitor health related data including but not limited to body temperature, heart rate
variability, motion, sleep, stress, fitness level, recovery level, effect of a workout routine on
health, caloric expenditure etc and environmental data. If any abnormal health data and
environmental data is observed by the tag then the said system sends alarm/notification
along with the data to the caretaker/guardian of the child. Thus, the said system is fully
automatic and competent enough to monitor the movement and health of the child and
provides alarm/notification in case of abnormal conditions. The proposed system can be
adopted by the schools, creche, caretakers or individuals for providing additional safety and
security to the child.

Method for Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and GPS based system for child health monitoring and movement tracking
[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of Internet of Things (IoT) and monitoring child. The field of the invention is to monitor the health and track the movement of child using Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and GPS system.
[0002] More particularly, this present invention relates to the field of remotely monitoring the child with regard to movement and any health-related issues and automatically sending the alarm/notification to the guardian/caregiver in case of any unwanted movement or health abnormality.
[0003] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in-and-of themselves may also be inventions.
[0004] In today's world, where people are moving from joint family to nuclear family, people are getting busy in their day-to-day life. In metro cities, where people are busy from morning to night in doing their job and living in a nuclear family, it is very difficult to take care of their Childs. People are bound to kept their child in day care in schools or creche. Further, some people prefer to keep caregiver at home and left their child in the responsibility of the caregiver. Crimes are increasing day by day related to children's such as child amusement, rapes, murders, illegal relationship, parent are much worried about their child when they are not with them. Due to the amusements, the emotional and mental stability of the children gets affected which in turn ruins their career and future. These innocent children are not responsible for what happens to them. So, parents are responsible for taking care of their own children. children cannot complain about amusements which they face in their daily life to their parents. They can't even realize what actually happens to them at their age. It is also difficult for parents to identify their children are being abused. But, due to economic condition and aims to focus on their child's future and career, parents are forced to crave for money. Hence, it becomes difficult to cling on to their children all the time. For avoidance of such kind of crime also, parents need to track every step of their child.
[0005] Further, along with the tracking of movement of the child, parents are also worried about the health of their child in their absence. Hence, tracking of primary health related data is also much concern of the parents in today's world. Hence, the monitoring or tracking of movement of child along with primary health is of utmost requirement for the parents. Parents are worried about their children so they want complete track of them and monitor them all the time. This is physically not possible so the introduction of child Monitoring system which is helpful for monitoring or tracking the child and their activities from anywhere in the world remotely using the device available with time like mobile or laptop. The major issue of child missing can be solved with the help of child tracking system as well as parents who need to keep a track of their every step, this system plays a vital role.
[0006] Further, it is not possible for every patent to afford a high-level security system due to the money constraint. Hence, there is a need of such kind of child monitoring system which can work in collaboration with the available infrastructure such as mobile phones, GPS system etc. The proposed system here uses the basic internet infrastructure, GPS system and mobile phones to track their child in real time as and when required remotely. It makes parents to easily monitor their children in real time just like staying beside them as well as focusing on their own career without any manual intervention. The advantages of this child monitoring system will be parent could be able to track child using their separate android application provided for the parent, Parent could track the location of child and Parent can locate and retrieve details anywhere and anytime.
[0007] Hence, there is a need of a system and method based on various Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to monitor the movement and health of the children and automatically sending notification in danger like situations. There are various prior art that aim to resolve the said issue which are discussed below:
[0008] US4785291 A - A monitoring apparatus including an unmodulated radio-frequency transmitter carried by or affixed to the person to be monitored and receiver/monitor apparatus at a monitoring location for providing quantized visual and audible indicia based on received signal strength. The receiver AGC level, being a function of received signal strength, provides the variable which determines the repetition rate of tone bursts and the number of LED bar visual indicia lighted within an array of such LED bars. The response levels of those indicia are then a function of the distance between transmitter and receiver. Movement of the child (for example) beyond a predetermined range is immediately detected by a person at the receiver location. Circuitry is provided for pre-setting the maximum allowable range before alarm is instituted.
[0009] US4593273 A - An out-of-range monitor and alarm system that may be used by a convalescent home or the like to alert an attendant in the home that a supervised person has walked beyond a predetermined prescribed distance. The system includes a base unit that transmits a signal at a frequency F1 to a receiver in a mobile unit carried by the supervised person. The receiver includes a threshold circuit that is adjustable to correspond to the prescribed distance and produces a threshold output signal whenever the F1 signal detected by the receiver drops below the threshold level. In response to the threshold output signal, a transmitter in the mobile unit produces an F2 output signal to a receiver in the base unit, which in turn sounds an alarm indicating that the mobile unit has lost adequate F1 signal strength, as determined by the threshold adjustment, by exceeding the range prescribed for the supervised person.
[0010] US4899135 A - An ultra-sonic or radio-frequency monitoring system comprising a transmitting unit carried by the child and a receiving unit carried by the child's guardian that will alert the guardian when the child strays beyond a pre-described distance, is abducted or falls into water.
[0011] US5289163 A - A child position monitoring device monitors the position of a child by detecting the signal strength of a radio frequency carrier from a transmitter attached to the child. If the signal of the radio frequency carrier is to weak, the child is to far away from the adult who has the child position monitoring device. When this happens, the adult is informed that the child has wandered to far away through the use on an audio tone or through the use of vibrations coming from the device. Once the adult is notified that the child is too far away, the device also has a locating display for indicating the relative direction of the child with respect to the adult. The display uses eight LEDs arranged around an emblem used to represent the position of the adult. The LED which lights up indicates the relative direction of the child.
[0012] US5021794 A - A radio transmitter in a miniaturized transceiver concealed on a person to be located, such as a lost child, is activated and transmits a coded UHF radio homing signal upon receipt of an initiating signal containing the child's address code. The initiating signal is automatically transmitted by a repeater station in response to an audible "panic signal" containing the address code and contains the identical address code. The panic signal is a pulse tone produced by a hand-held tone generator activated by the child's parent and is transmitted to the repeater station by telephone. Tracking vehicles are provided with automatic UHF radio direction finding and distance measuring equipment for locating the source of the homing signal. Stored information concerning the child can be transmitted to the tracking vehicles.
[0013] US5115223 A - A method for monitoring the location of an individual includes (a) a band attached to the individual that has a pressure actuated tamper indicator and (b) a monitoring/tracking unit that may be used to both monitor whether the individual has left a predetermined area and to provide an indication of the direction to the individual. The band may include a latch that applies pressure to a pressure sensitive pad when the latch is closed. When the latch is opened, pressure is removed and the transmitter may provide an indication that the band has been removed. The monitoring/tracking unit may include directional and omnidirectional antennae and a self-contained power source for portable operation of the unit.
[0014] US5689240 A - A system that transmits and receives signals comprising a master unit and a remote unit, wherein a separation distance between the master unit and remote unit is continuously monitored and an alarm is activated on the master unit when no signal is received from the remote unit for at least a time longer than a pre-set interval. If the separation distance between the master and remote unit is exceeded for a time longer than a pre-set time interval, the remote unit activates an alarm attached to the remote unit. The master unit may also be used to activate manually the remote unit's alarm. A pin or key arrangement is provided that ensures that the remote unit is not deactivated without interfacing with the master unit.
[0015] US7106191 BI - A child distance and alerting system comprising a transmitter unit to be attached to a child's clothing and a receiver unit to be carried by a parent or guardian supervising the child, for preventing the child from wandering too far and becoming vulnerable to predators. The transmitter unit includes a disc-shaped body, a pin portion extending outwardly therefrom for piercing an article of clothing, and a pin-receiving component adapted for releasably clamping the pin portion so that the transmitter unit can be attached to the child's clothing. Once the pin portion and the pin-receiving component are properly joined, the transmitter unit cannot be removed from the child's clothing except by use of a special tool. The transmitter unit is designed to transmit radio frequency signals when it is attached to the child's clothing and remains activated until the pin-receiving component is removed from the pin portion. The receiver unit receives the radio frequency signals sent by the transmitter unit and produces either an audible warning sound or a silent vibrating warning whenever the transmitter unit has travelled outside the predetermined distance from the receiver unit. The receiver unit will also alert the user when an unauthorized attempt has been made to remove the transmitter unit from the child.
[0016] US5900817 A - A monitoring system for indicating to a supervisory individual, such as an adult, when a monitored individual, such as a child, has moved beyond a safe predefined maximum distance limit. The monitoring system includes a first electronic module suitably fixed to the monitored individual and arranged to exchange signals that are useful to determine the relative distance and direction the first electronic module is from a suitable second electronic module. The second electronic module, which is in the possession of the supervisory individual, is arranged to exchange signal information with the first electronic module and indicate to the supervisory individual information including when the distance between, and the direction of, the monitored individual. Should the distance between the monitored and supervisory individuals increase beyond the maximum distance limit, an alarm situation may be annunciate by an audio annunciator (or other suitable annunciation device). The second electronic module includes a direction display and distance display, that may be employed by the supervisory individual to locate the monitored individual.
[0017] US6078260 A - A system for monitoring the proximity and location of a child by a parent includes two transceiver units which communicate wirelessly. The child unit will transmit a signal to the parent unit so that the parent unit can determined the proximity of the child unit and its direction. A safe zone may be set by controls on the parent unit. When the child unit moves beyond the safe zone, the parent unit will generate an alert.
[0018] Besides this, there are various prior arts in the state of the art that claims to resolve the problem of monitoring the health and track the movement of the child but the approach adopted for solving the same need to be further refined. Hence, there is a need to provide a method and system for tracking movement and monitoring health of the child using Internet of Things (IoT) based sensor and GPS system to track movement and health related parameters for the safety and security remotely and real-time basis. The aim of the present invention is to resolve the above mentioned issued using Internet of Things (IoT) based sensors and GPS system that can automatically and timely monitor child and automatically alerting the guardian or caregiver in need.
