lie it known that l, JOHN Kani-asn, Jr., a citizen oII the United States, and a resident of Piney, in the county of Vlfetzel and State of Yl'llest Virginia, have invented a new and flinproved lloisting Device, of which the following is a lull, clear, and exact description.
rlihe object oi the invention is to provide a new and improved hoisting device, more es pecially designed for raising and lowering deeijrwell tubing, pump-rods, and the like, and arranged to allow convenient and quick raising and lowering ol a load without much expenditure ot' power.
'ilhe invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same, as will be more :li'ully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.

When this takes place, the sheave l," is caused to move upward while the sheave F descends, and when the sheave l?, and with it the load, has reached an uppermost position then the sheave li" is again connected to the lead and the sheave l? disconnected `from the load. lhe drinn B is then again turned in the original direction and the above-described operation is repeated.
llhe device is very simple and durable in construction, is not liable to easily get out oli order, and can be readily putin use to quickly and conveniently raise a well-tubing, drillrod, or the like, or to lower the same by reversing the above-described operation.
