@Bawolff suggests holding the discussion at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump/Proposals
I would also like to emphasize that a succesful discussion doesn't mean someone will work on this. However a demonstration of community interest is definitely a strong argument when trying to convince someone to work on things (nobody wants to work on something only for the community to tell them the entire idea was stupid and they should go away)
@Theklan @Mrjohncummings
I'd highly suggest keeping the discussion focused on implementation of process to mitigate abuse. I think the interest is clearly there for these file formats, the continuing ask in return is "How are we going to make sure these files are safe?"
@Keegan thanks, will do, one question, will the discussion be basically the same independent of which file type could be used? Are any of the file type options any 'safer' than any others?
FYI, there's a discussion currently ongoing at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump/Proposals#Enable_textured_3D_files_on_Commons.
