Assumptions:
- Users may expect to see a wikidata link in the ‘In other projects section’ since that section is now populated with the other wiki projects. If it is not there, they cannot find the wikidata item so easily
- It would be easier to navigate through the wiki projects if we keep them together.
Indicators:
- Users click the wikidata dataobject link in the toolbar more often.
Measurements:
- Clicks of the wikidata dataobject link increases.
- Clicks of the wikidata special page link do not change.
- We will normalise both measurements by their respective page visits.
Also consider:
- We want to track ONLY the following metadata parameters from the monoschema:
- The user's skin (e.g. vector 2010 or 2022), mediawiki.skin
- The user's origin wiki project (but no need to track the usage after following a link), mediawiki.database
- The user's language, also from the above parameter
- Whether the user is logged in or anonymous (no need to collect their username for this), performer.is_logged_in
- We plan to delete the tracking 2 months after first measurements.
Notes for L3SC reviewer
- We will not collect any user identifiers, geographic identifiers, or page identifiers.
- We plan to aggregate the raw data in Superset by creating a custom dataset there. The raw source will be a subset of parameters from the monoschema (see above which properties), provided by the submitClick interaction, so no other data is collected.
