This can be resolved by T328254: Magic word variable for content model {{CONTENTMODEL}} plus T151682: Add a new MediaWiki system message as a content header inside #mw-content-text, but this requires an extension (PageNotice).
I suggest adding something like "The new category names are listed at [[Special:TrackingCategories]]."
That, plus the usual link to the task, should suffice.
For Tech News, I believe this would be a suitable summary (both clear to those familiar, and with enough clues for those unfamiliar, and pointers for translators). Please tweak or suggest alternatives, if needed:
Six tracking categories have been renamed in TranslateWiki to make them more easily understood and consistent. These categories are automatically added to pages that use specialized MediaWiki extensions. The affected names are for: DynamicPageList, Kartographer, Phonos, RSS, Score, WikiHiero. Wikis that have created the category locally should rename their local creation to match.

This task is about the proposed/stalled/maybe-cancelled GitLab migration. All of the comments are about that. All of the context is. You can't just re-purpose it for a totally different project of making a major breaking change to gerrit repos. Please open a different task.
I could be on board with closing this ticket if there is an alternative ticket that outlines some concrete, pragmatic and likely-to-be-worked-upon path for moving away from master branches in our projects in the long term. I agree that new projects only is not the whole solution, but I imagine most solutions we come up with will involve some uncomfortable period where some repos have a main branch and some have a master and we're not sure which is which. We might be able to make that a bit less painful with something like a symbolic ref.
Per previous comment I'd prefer not to increase entropy, "but some projects ... while other projects ... and there's also ..." instructions on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Tutorial#Update_the_main_development_branch , and wild guessing for new technical contributors. Thus I'd prefer to decline that the default branch for new projects only (emphasis mine) should be "main".
