Lepisosteiformes

Spotted gar (Lepisosteus oculatus)

Lepisosteiformes is an ancient order of freshwater ray-finned fish. The only extant representatives are the gars. All the others are extinct. It is one of two extant orders in the Holostei alongside the Amiiformes.
