this definitely felt short even though it was like 700+ pages but i also read this for the mention of dragons, finding out that the dragons only appear for 2% of the book? kind of disappointed and sometimes the lines or the dialogues kind of felt cringe.
but it was a fluffy read if you're looking for just a casual, get into fantasy and more political drama/ tension-y enemies to lovers (he fell first and he fell harder) then you'll definitely like this ...more
but the pace of the plot, started off quite slow and me waiting patiently for something to make me interested ani felt like overall, it's a nice book.
but the pace of the plot, started off quite slow and me waiting patiently for something to make me interested and then near the end of the book, it just seems rushed (but then again, i kinda understand why it felt slow because of that one bit where they try and find the fae lands)? like, the romance in here, i felt the FMC and the love interest could've even been off as friends if it wasn't for the obvious black hair and oh so handsome features, dark luscious smile, the aura, you get the vibe. i know she was convincing herself not to fall in love but it felt as if though she actually wasn't going to the path of love and then a little more than half-way through the book they get together.
it just felt a bit too forced. and the amount of doing it was just packed together. don't get me wrong, it's hella spicy and no complaints but near the end all the detailed smut every chapter was not it for me, just felt too forced. it just made it seem like, 'oh, they have to be in love so let's just put all of the spicy scenes in one go so it's impactful'.
and for a fantasy book, i thought the names were a bit too 'modern' (if you get what i mean) rather than fantasy-like? but didn't really mind much because i could actually pronounce the names in my head whilst reading instead of wondering if i was saying the names right.
and on the good side, the character banters was quite funny, i really liked all of the side characters and the book started off really strong. also the cover's gorgeous, delilah really is a strong character.
(view spoiler)[ also when the best friend easton died out of nowhere i was like, what is happening?? because i was wondering why the whole emphasis on easton and delilah being platonic soulmates and the slow pace of showing every single interaction of them together: and just for him to die off nearly at 20 something percent through the book like what :DDD (hide spoiler)]...more
This is really just a copy of Twilight where the main character has no personality whatsoever and falls for the "bad boy" where she denies her feelingThis is really just a copy of Twilight where the main character has no personality whatsoever and falls for the "bad boy" where she denies her feelings for him until tah-dah, THEY CONFESS THEIR NEVER ENDING LOVE FOR EACH OTHER. I genuinely didn't have that much feeling while reading this and honestly, the romance kind of felt like a ping pong match: Abby loving Travis so much and then backs out, Abby then realising she loves Travis then gets pulled out again. This happened for a VERY LONG TIME *cough* the entire book *cough*.
However, with the reviews I have been seeing and the author being very very racist, I cannot say that I will continue reading her books. I would never support an author who is racist and I don't have much knowledge about what truly happened but it's very clear to me she that she will never be one of my favourite authors....more

What I liked about this book: - Meeting one of my favourite couple Rhysand and Feyre again - .....?
Now, what I did NOT like about this book: - Nesta's attitude killing me the whole way because she thinks she owns the world - The Inner Circle characters having a whole 360 turn of character development? My respect for all the characters now ...more

This book is quite short, since it’s 250 pages long. *I received an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much to TBR and Beyond Tours*
This book is quite short, since it’s 250 pages long. I usually read 400+ pages book(s) but ‘A Crown of Echoes’ didn’t feel that shorter than I expected it to be. Hey, at least it started off very nicely, meeting Queen Merrin with her opening lines: “This story would be better if it were told by Beau. Beautiful, regal, freckled Beau. But alas, captive ones, you’ll be getting the oversharing, less eloquent Merrin version of this story.”
This story is written in a unique style that I haven’t read from any other books. It was like even though we are reading the story, Merrin was actually ‘saying‘ her own fairy tale. The paragraphs/sentences where Merrin was talking as if she already knew what was going to happen were quite interesting.
We definitely know the two queens personalities from their first impressions in this book. When I meet new characters, I need some time to get to know them and decide if they are going to be loved by me. But I knew I would love Merrin❤️ Queen Beau is quite the elegant and beautiful queen we could imagine her as well but Merrin was different. She had a wild heart (along with her hair) and I just fell in love with her story.
Windley’s snippy and secretive personality made me love him a lot. He is such a badass and radiates ‘bad boy’ off him. And what’s there not to love about him? He is always there for Merrin and the sizzling friendship + romance is always there! I am not a fan of friends-to-lovers trope but that has been change when I was reading about Windley’s little affection towards Merrin. She was oblivious to them (I was shouting at the book to make Merrin notice more of Windley) but it was always there. Merrin thinking of Windley a bit, Windley (somehow) making Merrin happy and being supportive. Those two characters made me laugh and cry a lot (;
Other characters, Albie and Rafa just felt like they were there in the scenes, but didn’t catch my interest a lot. Sure, Albie is like a father to Merrin and Rafa is a secretive guard but they weren’t just outshinning to me.
There are so many secrets, twists, emotions and the plots get bigger and bigger as we read through. There are so many secrets (and the ending, oh my) here and there along with some ‘unusual’ magical abilities from the characters....more

This has the swoony YA romance and the writing style is quite fun to get along with but I couldn't quite give full five stars. It wasn't the best book and it definitely wasn't the worst so it's just kind of in the middle.
This was kind of short for me because everything jumped a lot from here to there. Every chapter took in one place and the other just happened to be in another scenario. It was hard to concentrate on what was happening and it was just all over the place.
The romance dragged a lot as well. Only in about 90% of the book did Daisy and Miles' love story bloom. Sure, baby steps are okay but it didn't really feel like it was building up the tension.
The whole story was quite dramatic. The Scottish Royal family and Daisy's family are always moving around and so scared of what might happen if something goes wrong. There are some moves here and there (which was exciting for a minute) but it was just . . . too dramatic in action.
But this whole book had its own unique cuteness that I couldn't resist but love it. If you want a short contemporary romantic book, then I would recommend this because it's something to pass away your time and read.
Overall, it was cute and unique but there were too many things I didn't quite enjoy....more
