This story was so fun and enjoyable -- witches, shadow magic, secrets, cute romance, yummy recipes, & the coziest autumn aesthetic. I really enjoyed the magic within this book, and felt it was very digestible and easy to comprehend. The storyline was fun and well paced in my opinion. I loved all of the secrets and the dark magic aspects that we learned as the story progressed. I did, however, wish there was more detail about the coven or even more of an exploration into the other magic specialties outside of our MC's abilities. The Halloween vibes were fun and felt so nostalgic. I absolutely love celebrating Halloween, so I am so excited for everyone to read this in October when it releases.
The "forbidden" romance storyline was cute, but I was definitely wanting a little more from Kate & Matthew. The chemistry felt a little off for me, and then the feelings started to feel a little rushed because I wanted more tension/build up between the two.
The recipes included at the end of the book were such a fun touch! I was drooling over everything that Kate made throughout the story, so having the recipes at the end was a happy surprise!

For some reason I went into this expecting a cute contemporary rom-com, but it ended up being so much more. While there are a few quippy and humorous lines, Tessa Bickers does a really beautiful job of touching on incredibly relatable themes such as grief, mental health, healing and forgiveness. This one is just so much more than your typical romance. I literally felt so many different emotions while reading this one.
From the beginning I just knew Erin & James' story was going to be so cute, secretly writing to each other in the margins of books they pass to each other through their local little free library! I was immediately wrapped up in their story and loved each POV slowly giving us more and more of their history. I loved experiencing them not only find each other, but also themselves through their sort of pen pal relationship. The overall character development and growth was such a joy to read.
Both of our MCs definitely struggle with being suck in the past, constantly reflecting back and struggling to move on. At times I found this a little frustrating to read, but ultimately I felt it made sense for the characters, and they had to learn to forgive and move on in order to really find themselves. I would have loved some sort of epilogue for Erin & James! After experiencing their story I just wanted a little bit more of them.

I was quite literally hungry the entire time I was reading this and now I want to travel the world! No but seriously, Lizzy Dent did such a beautiful job in detailing every single bit of the setting. I could almost taste the pasta and feel the Tuscan sun on my face.
I wanted so badly to love Olive & Leo, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing and I struggled a bit to connect with them. I love a slow burn, but this form me was entirely too slow and the romance that we did get was a little lack luster. I definitely found myself skimming for dialogue quite a bit just waiting for something to happen. I did however really enjoy the friendship between Olive, Ginny, & Kate. The bater between them felt so genuine and their dynamic was very relatable.
With all that said, this book was good but it just didn't blow me away. I would recommend this to someone looking for an easy beach read or something to take on vacation.

DNF at 34%— I was really excited to dive into this book because of the cozy witchy vibes, but it unfortunately just wasn’t for me.
I was definitely inDNF at 34%— I was really excited to dive into this book because of the cozy witchy vibes, but it unfortunately just wasn’t for me.
I was definitely intrigued by the storyline itself and the magic felt whimsical, but I struggled to get into the writing. I have read plenty of third person before, but for some reason this felt more like the story was being retold to me, versus feeling immersed in the story itself.
The dialogue was difficult for me to enjoy and it just felt kind of forced. We know that there is a love interest thanks to the synopsis, but at 34% there still wasn’t any progress into the relationship which really deterred me from continuing.
Just because this book wasn’t for me doesn’t mean you won’t love it yourself. If you’re looking for a cozy, witchy, cottage-core vibe with a sapphic romance, you should look into it.

This wonderful little debut gothic horror novel was so unlike anything else I ever read, and it really took me by surprise. From the very beginning I This wonderful little debut gothic horror novel was so unlike anything else I ever read, and it really took me by surprise. From the very beginning I was fully immersed in Roos' dark little story. I quite honestly kept asking myself "what the hell is going on?" in the very best way.
This eerie and haunting story follows Roosje, who is very much an unreliable narrator, and her spirt companion, Ruth. Roos has experienced an incredible amount of trauma in her life, and is continuously taken advantage of by those who are supposed to care for her.
The writing and imagery was just so beautiful for such a dark story. I love a book that provides and unique hybrid narration, and in this book we get both first person (past) and transcript documentation (present) that guides use through the story. It was so incredibly well-written, giving us bits and pieces of intriguing and important information each chapter that I never felt bored. I was constantly speculating and then doubting my own theories until the very end.
If you are in the book for a beautifully creepy, gothic horror story with a touch of sapphic romance I highly recommend My Darling Dreadful Thing.

This perfectly sums up my experience reading this beautiful work of art. TJ Klune was not joking when he said h”I'm not crying. My eyes are sweating.”
This perfectly sums up my experience reading this beautiful work of art. TJ Klune was not joking when he said he was going to make us all cry. Heartsong might possibly be my favorite of the series.
We get Robbie’s story and I truly had no idea what to expect, but it was better than I could have ever imagined and I had such a hard time putting it down. It’s a story of love and loss, and finding your way back home. It was soo heart breaking and beautiful to follow along Robbie and Kelly’s story of finding each other once again, and I ate every bit of it up.
I absolutely loved the way the reader is dropped into the middle of the story and immediately putting together puzzle pieces and I actually gasped when I realized what was happening. The writing is incredible and the story is so well paced.
I laughed, I cried, and I felt all of the emotions!! The characters in this series and hands down some of my favorites ever. They are so incredibly developed and heartwarming. I absolutely cannot wait to read Brothersong!

Quite possibly Emily Henry's best work yet! No Notes✨

Give me a swoon worth MMC and a forced proximity, fake dating, slow burn romance all day everyday.Everything about Daphne and Miles' story was so loveable. It was witty and clever, while also being a bit messy. I laughed and cired, and quite literally could not stop giggling.
The characters were so incredibly relatable. Our main characters are all in their mid 30's which was such a breath of fresh air! I felt Daphne's struggle with social interaction around strangers and meeting new people to my core. The overall growth and healing between each character was so refreshing. This story explores topics of finding oneself, working through abadonment issues, and self love.
Just go ahead and proactively add Miles Nowak to your list of Book Boyfriends because he will infact steal your heart! This man had me blushing everytime he was even mentioned on the page. He is so incredibly easy going with the best sense of humor and the biggest charmer around. But ultimately he cares BIG!
As always, Emily Henry never disapoints when it comes to the banter and chemitry between her characters.
