The note leads these three, new and unlikely, friends on a scavenger hunt to find Shara and answer their burning questions about her disappearance. I pretty much like anything Casey McQuiston writes. This book was just a lot more predictable and sometimes repetitive than I would have liked. The characters are still fun and the message is wonderful!

She has just moved in with her uncle and is working at a wildlife preserve when she stumbles upon a group of feral girls in the woods. Are the girls princesses from another realm, kidnapping victims who've been brainwashed, or maybe something else?? This book definitely kept me guessing...it's hard to discern what is fantasy and what is reality until the very end.

As a society, people determined that hearts were not necessary, causing too many emotions and people to lose focus. A solution was created to regulate and alleviate the physical and emotional pain of the human experience. But artistic June is the only one who has kept her heart, and she's so alone. I really appreciate graphic novels that play around with colors to tell a story and Wilson does just that. Those without a heart art colorless, but June is not.
I gave it four stars because I feel like June made a very rash decision over a boy too quickly! But other than that, it was a good read.

I just got the warm fuzzies knowing that this book is so inclusive and open about gender, identity, protecting nature, and in general being a decent being. The story is very cozy, so the arc isn't super exciting, but sometimes that is a nice thing. The illustrations are very cute and imaginative and really perfect for the story! This is a great book for middle grades and young adults alike.

I honestly went into it never having read the summary or any idea what it was about. To me, it started off as a potentially upbeat story but did a quick 180! Upbeat it was not. I do feel like there was some missing information, and the reasoning behind the actions of the ghost was a little silly. But still good and some great illustrations.
I was excited to read this book originally, as I have enjoyed Hodge's previous works, however this YA novel fell flat for me. It is a loose retelling I was excited to read this book originally, as I have enjoyed Hodge's previous works, however this YA novel fell flat for me. It is a loose retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, but I did not even finish it. I found the writing went in circles and it became very preachy about faith and what it means to love or devote yourself to someone. It just was not what I was expecting. Others may find the concepts intriguing, but I grew bored.

I suspected that I would like this book as I loved the other I had ready by her. I listened to both of her books on audiobook and the person she gets to read the books is amazing and just spot on. It is a joy to listen to so if you have that option, please consider listening to it! I love a good time-loop story and the amount of romance is appropriate for the YA audience, but man, did I feel the feels just like I was a teenager again. It was lovely to find Lynn as a new author to explore. She is witty, fun, introspective, and romantic.

I discovered Lynn Painter's books earlier this year and fell in love. This book I loved a little less than her others, but that doesn't mean it isn't full of first love butterflies. She is very good at describing that first love feeling perfecting and bringing you back to that part of your life (especially if you are an adult, like me). The narrators again hit it out of the part and make the audiobook an incredible listen.

I struggle with some graphic novels because I feel like I'm missing something, the story moves too quickly, or there's just too much happening for the storytelling medium. I appreciate that the focus of this book was rather narrow - Jade struggling with her art because she's struggling with her friend's attempted suicide. I like how throughout the book art is used as a way to deal with emotions and the characters even discuss using art to deal with mental health. A solid read, but not if you're looking for something uplifting.

When senior year comes around and Liz's crush come back into her life, Liz arranges for Wes to help her out in getting the guy she wants. As you can imagine, this plan gets complicated quickly. Liz has a hard time enjoying a senior year without her late mother, keeping track of her little lies, and her newly forming feelings for Wes.
Remember that feeling of your first love? I do. There is nothing like it and somehow this book brought that rare feeling back to me with the relationship between Liz and Wes. That is a sort of magic that is hard to find in a book these days. This book serves up all the feels. I plan to devour all of the little extra chapters the author has written all about Liz and Wes. I listened to the audiobook version of the book. The narrator did an amazing job. Definitely recommend. Better Than the Movies is a big, sweet surprise of a book that left me wanting much more!

It definitely was not a happy read, but I think it's an important portrayal of some of the issues that young girls deal with frequently. However, I did not appreciate the end and how it glossed over the fact that recovering from an eating disorder takes time. Also, I really did not like the mom!
