Bad piston rings or valve seals

IIRC You buy a ring kit for the M52 and use the oil control ring from it, and you buy a ring kit for the M54 and use the compression rings from that.

Maximum combined output?

I recently bought the 57" neo g9. 7900xtx is the video card in the system

My secondary monitor is an old 2008 era 27" Dell ultra sharp.

I want to pickup a replacement for the old Dell but I've got a technical conundrum.

I have high quality cables.

But I can't get the full output capability of the g9 if I'm running the Dell at its full resolution of 1920x1200 and 60hz

If it is at that resolution I am locked out of the 240hz option on the g9 and can only go to 120hz.

If I drop the Dell down to the 16:10 equivalent of 640x480 I can run the g9 at its full capability.

So before I drop 400 on a new ultrasharp which is 2560x1440 120hz I had a few questions for those here with more tech knowledge than me.

Is it a driver limitation?

A hardware limitation due to total output?

Or a hardware limitation because of something to do with hdmi gen1 / display port gen1 not playing well when also connected to a monitor with hdmi 2.1 and dp 2.1?

Thanks all.

Nah man. You did your research and bought what you wanted and could afford.

Don't feel bad for not "keeping up with the jonses" you do what you can.

Bigger doesn't mean better lol. As a matter of fact as the owner of the 57" holy grail. I see every flicker, every missed anything... And I got mine for nearly 1k off retail... And even at that price my brain goes "why isn't this perfect!"

Well I feel dumb.

Can't run the monitor at max settings if you have multiple displays...

I guess there's a hardware limitation on total output. Not just per channel.

To follow up now that I'm home again.

I've tried with the included cable

I've tried with a "VESA CERTIFIED" Display Port 2.1 cable.

I've tried with HDMI.

Now the display will say 240 -VRR in the corner when selecting a source.

Windows still refuses to go above 60hz in 240 mode.

In 120 mode I can get 120 at D-UHD, but in 240 mode I can't get even 120... Which seams a little odd to me.

Will keep reading and researching.

If all else fails I can try a live chat with Samsung... Though even saying that makes my head hurt.

On the monitor itself I have 240hz and dp2.1 selected.

If there's a way to force dp2.1 in windows settings I don't know about that one Comment Image

Tech Support

Alright, tried searching, and all the topics are about Nvidia 4XXX series and 7680x2160 @ 240hz.

I have a 7900xtx and I can't get the bloody thing over 120. If I select 240 in the OSD menu it defaults to a locked 60. I can't do 240 above 5140x1440.

I've already updated the firmware to 1005.3

GPU drivers are updated.

Using the supplied DP2.1 cable, and DP2.1 is selected in the OSD.

Anyone got any ideas so I can get this thing running at its full potential.

It appeared this morning after warming up. Everything was fine, I was playing Days Gone, and then just while I'm playing, keyboard is on my lap, and mouse is on its own separate table. So it's not like there were vibrations in the desk. Just suddenly 1 line and that dark spot at the bottom, then slowly more lines.

The only problem I see is that you can't have anyone as Arthur except Jackman next to Cavil as John.

Arthur is a HUGE man compared to John, and Cavil is just physically HUGE compared to all the options except maybe Jackman.

Other than that, pretty good, though I think Clint is now way to old. 90s Clint, sure.

It runs fine if I'm solo in a race. Any other cats and emulation speed drops to between 60 and 80%

Sly copper as another example runs perfect until there's particle effects then same thing emulation speed tanks.

I do have metrics on and cpu/gpu/ram utilization never gets over 45%

So just confused on if I missed a setting somewhere.

Alright. I tried the search function.

Snap dragon 8 g3

Adreno 750

16gb ram version

What are the appropriate settings for optimum performance in most ps2 titles specifically gran turismo 4 but just also just best in general?

Are there any third party drivers I need to worry about?

Thank you for any help. New to emulating on android. But have experience on pc which I know is easier due to just brute force.

Are you cut out for this life?

Daygall
commented

From my experience with the e46 and e66 platforms previous owners are 99.9% of the problem.

You get the typical 18-25 year old with no diy skill, no mechanical aptitude that see these at 3-5k and go "I can own a bmw!" Then 6 months of thrashing on them later the 20 year old car breaks and they go " stupid pos German crap! " then turn around and trade them to a dealer that does the bare min to auction them.

Then "we" pick them up. Take one drive and go "fuck me every bushing is shot and every gasket leaks..." open that wallet.

Once you get them sorted out they're fine. Then keep to a maintenence schedule. IIRC in INSTA they even list the maintenence intervals.

Follow the bmw recommended intervals for everything except fluid - life time fluid my ass 😡- and my 330xi has been cheaper over the last 100k miles than my father's Subaru.

These at best are 19 year old cars now. The wiring to the LCM and the LCM itself are old. Insulation is no longer in good condition. When you have the headlights in AUTO mode the system is running 12V constant through that switch to the sensor in the windshield for the ambient light level to see if it should turn on the lights.

So with possible wire age, meaning compromised insulation, possible increase in wire resistance or the LCM being old too, that means resistance, resistance means heat, heat means fire.

It's a fairly well documented problem in older E46s now. I've seen way to many posts of car fires due to failed LCM modules or the wiring to them. So just wanted to pass along the heads up. It would be a shame to see a 330 burn down :(

Take your headlights off auto unless you've just replaced the LCM and wiring to them. Other than that have fun!

In cold weather these engines vape like a Subaru owner it's normal. If it still dose it when it's completely hot. Like you can see it in your mirrors pulling away from a stop levels. Then you might have an issue. But a little white on start when cold in the cold is perfectly normal for these cars.

As others said it's much more likely it's just your short commute not letting the engine warm up fully caused buildup on the oil cap. A nice long highway cruise is honestly the easiest way to tell.

Edited for phone grammar and spelling 😑

Sorry. Euro specs. Let me unfreedom unit my brain.

High octane gas. Whatever you can afford, it will allow the engine to run "harder" by not retarding timing because of knock.

And if you're headgasket goes there are separate things that can happen.

You'll have large white clouds coming from your tailpipe. This is a gaskets failure from cooling jacket to combustion chamber. This also can be reversed and you'll be blowing combustion gas into the cooling system which can cause it to fail.

You'll see the same kind of sludge in your expansion tank and on its cap. This is failure of the gasket between the cooling jacket and the oil passages in the head.

In the case of the first one of you're really scared you might have lost the head gasket *unlikely of the engine had never been overheated. * you simply pull the spark plugs and stick a cheap borescope camera in the cylinders and look for one that is very clean. Like steam cleaned. That's a sure fire way to tell if you have a headgasket failure.
