What about my fans setup and airflow? What about my fans setup and airflow?
Help (General)
https://preview.redd.it/what-about-my-fans-setup-and-airflow-v0-jkitkywjmh9d1.jpg

What do you guys think about my fans setup? is there a better way that i can set it up?
noticed my gpu temps were raging towards 90+ core and even 105 on hotspot so i started to "panic" and tried to find some ways to lower them, i started with an undervolt and messing with fan curve and i managed to drop my temps a bit but then i noticed that the main problem was the glass side panel>
So i started running without side panel on because it makes me drop like 10 C in gpu core and hotspot (65 and max 85 hotspot on heavy load, im sitting at 36C idle)
i replaced the side panel with a mesh foil just to prevent animals and some dust to get in

Then i was not happy: i had 4 spare fans and i installed the two under the gpu as intake to push fresh air into the gpu, and then i installed the two fans on the top of the case one as intake and one as exhaust.

the bottom fan on the right under the gpu (the one inside the case) probably is useless, but the one on the left i thinks works great feeding fresh air into the gpu, i also tried to put that one as exhaust but i noticed no difference because the gpu exhaust his heat from the pci on the side, thats why im running without side panel.

any suggestion would be appreciated i leave below all my specs

5800x3d
noctua nhd15
7900 GRE
32 gb ddr4 3200 (4x8gb)
750W gold psu

with this setup i get on idle 36 core, 43 hotspot and max 67, 85 hotspot on heavy load (gaming)
sits on 65- 79 hotspot on 12 min furmark test

cpu stays in mid 35 and max 80 on heavy gaming cpu intensive (bf 2042)

noctua fans fixed at 50% (going above actually doesnt reduce temps anymore, just more noise)

gpu custom fan curve 23% - 25C ; 23% - 41C ; 65% - 50C ; 75% - 74C ; 100% - 79C

gpu undervolt & overclock: 2703 min - 2803 max core clock ; 990 mV ; 2416 MHz vram fast timin ; +15% power limit.

Freesync and Inputlag questions Freesync and Inputlag questions
Help (General)

I desperately need to lock my FPS at 234-237 since i am using freesync premium monitor and the visual tearing with 240 hz monitor + 240fps lock is really annoying to play with. If i disable freesync i have crazy screen tearing which is distracting as hell. I can not use RTSS for some reason and im guessing it has to do with Vanguard? I am on AMD GPU and yes there is, yet both AMD Chill + FRTC is HORRIBLE i can FEEL the input lag they give me not to mention: FRTC does not exist on League Of Legends tab as setttings and the AMD Chill when locked at 234 or 237 is giving me slight input delay but also the fps drops down at random moments, which is also is really distracting since the freesync makes it suttery ish when drops happen.

If i turn every sync settings off and just play at 240fps lock my fps is avg 239.5 aka its stable as it gets and never drops a single fframe not even late game min 40, im sitting on a real good system with good knowledge of optimizations but i cant figurre out what to do atm? I play in Challenger elo EUW and i sometimes legit lose to inputlag or screen tearing depending on the settings im constantly trying out.

Is anyone else having similar problem or has some knowledge/experience dealing with this? I kind of am dizzy from every setting and stuff ive read/researched the last couple of days?

As clear as language can get, either i have slight input lag with fps drops that causes stuttering at random moments or i can play 239 fps without a single fps drop EVER but have crazy screen tearing. Any advice on how i could possibly solve this ? It really does make alot of difference and is noticeable at a degree where i lose games at high level of competetive league of legends so i really need to figure out what i can do?

AMD am5 suddenly wont boot AMD am5 suddenly wont boot

Hello, few days ago I ran into a problem. The problem is that my pc won't boot on the first try. It will boot on the second try though. I've been using this Pc for approx 1 year. This problem started happening few days ago, if it boots I can play videogames etc without any issues. Occasionally boot will show Ram not detected and cpu not detected leds. Sometimes only RAM led.

I have tried:

  • Updated BIOS to the newest version

  • Disabled XMP and enabled it

  • Enabled, disabled and auto for memory context restore.

  • Updated GPU drivers

  • Cleaned whole pc from dust and also took rams out and put them back in. This seemed to help for 2 days.*

Now that my pc booted, I will run memtest.

Is this a RAM problem or motherboard problem? What do you think?

Issue with RX-6400 Issue with RX-6400
Help (General)

Recently I've been having the problem of whenever I try to play a game on my GPU, my monitor either says "Power Saving Mode" and then I have to restart my PC or the system restarts on its own. Eventually it even started to turn off when I was using it for normal tasks. I've been using my PC for almost 2 years up to this point with no issues. So far I've tried:

  1. Cleaning my GPU fans

  2. Cleaning CPU Fans

  3. Updating AMD Drivers (I tried this first and it worked for a few days only for the issue to start again)

  4. Updating My BIOS

  5. Updating every single other driver on my system.

  6. Changing the battery on the motherboard.

  7. Changing my power cable

  8. Using a different monitor.

I'm using my PC without the GPU now and it's running fine, haven't had any issues.

Famous WHEA-Logger "Cache Hierarchy Error" after upgrading CPU Famous WHEA-Logger "Cache Hierarchy Error" after upgrading CPU
Help (General)

Hello everyone, 2 days ago I replaced my Ryzen 5 2600 with Ryzen 7 5700X3D (because a lot of games I play had big issues with stutters/FPS drops, Elden Ring DLC for example). However, my system (I'm running Windows 11 Pro) started doing "silent reboots": the whole screen turns black, sound stops, and a second later PC reboots itself. In the Event Viewer an Error shows up:

Even Viewer log

To answer some questions: the problem exists even on default settings. Prior to replacing CPU, I updated my motherboard BIOS to latest version (MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, so now I have version 7C02v3I installed). I also installed the latest AMD graphics and chipset drivers available on AMD website (tried chipset drivers from MSI as well, and it didn't work).

On the first day I saw one error with APIC ID 3, but every other one afterwards is related to APIC ID 0. From what I understand it indicates that the problem occures with Core 1 Thread 1. After reading a lot of posts on the internet I though this problem can be related to core voltages. I tried using PBO CurveOptimizer and setting different values from -30 to +10, both 'all cores' and 'per core' on Core 1, and I still get the same error.

As the last resort I even reinstalled Windows, but the error didn't disappear. I saw some posts a few years ago about HWINFO potentially causing this error, but now I don't have it installed.

What could possibly be the problem?

Help (General)

Hello,

I've been running into an issue on a friend's computer. We can't get Windows to recognize TPM 2.0.

We updated the BIOS after reading this thread, but it is still not working: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/13xgm41/tpm_20_not_detected/

Unfortunately, Windows is still not able to detect it, despite the TPM 2.0 device being found and a firmware version being present. Did we miss something?

Microstutters in some games (Not all) Microstutters in some games (Not all)
Help (General)

Hey, I am finally getting a new monitor, so I decided it is time to try to fix these microstutters I have in some games (Elden Ring, Dying Light 2 and Chivalry 2, DOTA 2, Starfield). The 0.1% and 1% lows are just horrendously bad, below 30 FPS and sometimes even below 10 FPS, which makes the games feel a bit laggy, but they are still playable, but for whatever reason, the microstutters are really bad in Chivalry 2, does not matter if I change the settings to maximum or minimum. My temps never go over 70°C, they are usually around the 60°C mark**.**

What I have noticed is that whenever they occur, my frametimes spike up a bit and on bigger microstutters GPU usage drops by like 20%, but it never drops to 0%. Everything else seems to be fine.

What I have tried thus far:

  • Reset BIOS by taking out CMOS battery

  • DDU using safe mode (Like 4 times by now)

  • Rollbacking to 2 different driver versions (23.12.1 and 24.2.1)

  • Reinstall windows

  • Taking out ram sticks and testing the games out with each one alone

  • Unplugging most peripherals

  • Closing most programs

  • Disabling CPPC (Read on reddit that it helped someone)

  • Disabling XMP

  • Disabling Resizable Bar

  • Using default GPU tuning settings without any overclock

My specs:

  • GPU - RX 7900 GRE Sapphire Pulse

  • CPU - Ryzen 7 5700x3D

  • Motherboard - Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO

  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x16GB 3600mhz 18cl

  • PSU - Corsair RM850e

  • M.2 - Crucial P5 2TB (Games installed on this)

  • Windows 10 Pro 22H2

  • BIOS version - Latest, F65

  • Latest chipset drivers

  • Drivers - Latest, 24.6.1

I am just lost on what should I do next, not so demanding games run just fine (Overwatch 2, xDefiant, CS2, League of Legends). When doing some research I read some guys talking about audio drivers messing with something and they mentioned a ''pop in sound'' for headsets, which I also get sometimes. One thing I am gonna test is connect the new monitor with a Displayport cable, read that someone had issues with microstutters because of an older HDMI cable (Mine is like ~8 years old).

Could it be that my PCIE 3.0 motherboard is messing with something? Should I run a memtest and see if anything shows up?

Would appreciate any help, thank you very much!

EDIT: https://imgur.com/a/uH1DTyS took some pictures with the graphs as the microstutters occured in Elden Ring, 1-2 sec delay.

Well, I managed to play (Sea of Thieves, but it happens also in This War of Mine, no idea bout other games) for a few hours and then without doing nothing it crashed. I also tried several times to verify the game files integrity and it seems all ok. I really don't know what to do.

Maximum combined output? Maximum combined output?

Maximum combined output?

I recently bought the 57" neo g9. 7900xtx is the video card in the system

My secondary monitor is an old 2008 era 27" Dell ultra sharp.

I want to pickup a replacement for the old Dell but I've got a technical conundrum.

I have high quality cables.

But I can't get the full output capability of the g9 if I'm running the Dell at its full resolution of 1920x1200 and 60hz

If it is at that resolution I am locked out of the 240hz option on the g9 and can only go to 120hz.

If I drop the Dell down to the 16:10 equivalent of 640x480 I can run the g9 at its full capability.

So before I drop 400 on a new ultrasharp which is 2560x1440 120hz I had a few questions for those here with more tech knowledge than me.

Is it a driver limitation?

A hardware limitation due to total output?

Or a hardware limitation because of something to do with hdmi gen1 / display port gen1 not playing well when also connected to a monitor with hdmi 2.1 and dp 2.1?

Thanks all.

When I power on everything lights up except there is no sign of boot and no qled on motherboard. Also will not power off (switch or jump). This happened right after I tried reseating my cpu and cooler after a green screen crash. Last time this happened I replaced the motherboard. Maybe somebody has an idea of what I can do. I’ve tried reseating the cpu, gpu, power cables, now and I’m only running 1 stick of ram.

I bought this PC second hand and it has caused me nothing but headache. For two years and now two motherboards, I have had green screen crashes and loss of signal/pixelated screens. The pc would only run for a day if I was lucky to get it stable. I’ve tried everything up to taking it to a repair shop. Tried to RMA through Xfx but previous owner already opened a ticket. I can’t get ahold of the old owner due to OfferUp deleting all my messages.

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenaline 24.6.1

Chipset Drivers: Unsure

Background Applications: Firefox

Description of Original Problem:

I got an AMD advantage Asus laptop (5900HX and 6800M), and if I was to use an external 4k monitor/TV with the HDMI and then play a game on the external display and a youtube video on the internal display, there is micro stuttering in the game. The FPS seems to be fine, but I can feel the stuttering in even light games like WoW, nvm anything too intense.

Troubleshooting: But if I was to use a USBC to DP cable (I only got one of those, many HDMI... nvm the tv but i dont use the internal screen then), this stops completely, no matter the game.

I know that the thing lacks a mux, so the HDMI port goes thru the iGPU and the USBC/DP one is purely off the dGPU, but is that the only reason or is there something else I can do?

I have a few screens, and some of them are HDMI only, and it is kind of annoying that seemingly this thing comes with old HDMI and cannot do 4k 120Hz without the DP version since anytime I try to hook up that with the HDMI it won't work (why I got that single special cable in the first place).

Anyone know anything beyond trying to get a weird USBC to HDMI cable or something?

Help (General)

Basically just the title, we've done far more things than I or anyone else involved with this computer has, including my uncle that works with computers a lot. We've called some shops and gotten some advice, scoured all over the internet and reddit and youtube looking for any possible solutions and we've made 0 progress, including AMD's own Tech Support megathread which we did all things listed. The PC is brand new, intended as a gift, so some games have been downloaded, along with Discord, Opera GX, Steam, etc. and it's just never worked right. From the first day it was improperly wiped and we had to do a full Windows 11 installation, which despite following perfect directions and even having a professional do it manually due to fear of messing something up, it just was a flawed process. Ultimately from the very first day there were issues with Task Manager, Device Manager, Windows Security, and Settings in general, where all these processes would become unresponsive. Ultimately we figured it was just something that happens with Windows 11 as we've heard that from many people and saw a lot of the same online. Over the next few days as games were played/installed they would not launch (Baldur's Gate 3 in particular) and we had to jump through numerous hoops to actually get it to do so. After which not too long into playsessions we'd get an error that reads "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" which also seems to just be a common issue according to Steam discussions. We have reinstalled Windows numerous times, Drivers numerous times (all things are updated), and done everything in the AMD Tech Support thread which is just far too much to list here. On top of other things such as SFC /scannow, things in Command Prompt and Powershell, all of which has lead to minimal progress, Task Manager SOMETIMES will now end tasks properly after the 3rd Windows reinstallation, however, it still sometimes doesn't update and just has the generic box icon for processes and completely freezes, which makes the entire computer need to be restarted in order for anything to function again. In AMD Adrenalin, the "AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics" GPU goes from 0% Utilization to 100% and all in between with no rhyme or reason, despite literally nothing but said software running on the computer (as I'm typing this right now I can see it over in the corner, not even being influenced by air) and we've done any and all fixes we can find on the internet, although some seem to require MSI Afterburner which isn't something we have due to it being labeled as completely unnecessary from what I read. I could go into detail about every thing we have tried but it would make this post so much longer than it already is. I look forward to any help anyone can offer as this has been a draining process and seemingly no professional is even able to come to a conclusion as to what's going on here (not a jab or anything, just reinforcing how at a loss we are) so we are happy to hear anything!

AMD GPU causing mouse input lag? AMD GPU causing mouse input lag?
Help (General)

Specs:
Ryzen 5600
XFX RX 6600 XT MERC

ASRock B550
Win 11

When playing competitive games like Valorant and Overwatch, mouse movement and click delay just doesn't feel right. Like it's not moving at a consistent rate and click delay varies too much. I had this issue for a long time, here is some stuff I tried:

  1. Installing old drivers and modded community drivers.

  2. Disabling mouse accel not only by "high precision" in windows but with MarkC reg tweak.

  3. Various general "optimizations" like a bunch of reg tweaks, power plan, disabling C-states.

  4. Installing PRO driver - this actually made things worse, after some time whole PC was freezing if I move mouse too fast even on desktop.

  5. Uninstalling AMD chipset drivers - this partially fixed the issue but definetely not fully.

  6. Various custom OS modifications like ReviOS and Atlas.

  7. Disabling DXNavi/changing shader cache settings.

  8. Turning SAM on/off and PCI gen to 3/4.

  9. Changing "Wait for vertical refresh" setting - read somewhere that if it's not in "off unless application specifies" it can cause issues.

  10. Setting USBs and GPU in line-based mode instead of MSI mode

There is little info regarding this online, only stuff I found was about some old driver issue with HDCP, but disabling HDCP didn't help either. Uninstalling GPU driver on the other hand made mouse feel snappier on desktop, but without drivers you can't launch games so it's hard to say.

The only somewhat consistent way of fixing was full Windows reinstall. After fresh install with drivers update disabled everything was feeling fine for a couple of hours at best, nothing else than drivers and games is installed in this period, and driver/windows updates is disabled in registry and in group policy editor.

Today I borrowed RTX 2060 from a friend and everything feels perfect, it's same PC with same OS and settings but on 2060 this weird mouse behavior is completely gone.

Anyone had issues like this before? What else can I try to fix this on 6600XT?
