Motivation
[edit]I think black-and-white photograph (Q91078098) are too prevalent in visual culture not to have a dedicated Wikidata property. Whether they come from the times when black-and-white photography (Q3381576) was the only option or they are the result of contemporary aesthetics (Q35986), they are a staple of our visual representations of the world. The new property could be used in a number of different ways, for example to build 'somber' galleries of selected dead people or much more surely, really, whatever else. - Oppose too specific, should be done with qualifiers. Multichill (talk) 09:34, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose could possibly be done with SDC or qualifiers instead. Abbe98 (talk) 09:44, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support I would totally use this property for old prints of paintings (even if that is not the original intention). My proposal Wikidata:Property proposal/Notable print was also rejected for various reasons but if I can use this for engravings and etchings than I am also happy. - Comment agree that is maybe too specific I am playing around with colorized pictures that maybe can get its own property or be a qualifier.... not being a specialist but I think it could be nice to specify what technique has been used for black and white photos... looks like that is a parameter people use a lot when describing old pictures - Salgo60 (talk) 12:10, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per Multichill and Abbe. Mahir256 (talk) 16:46, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. --Marsupium (talk) 09:53, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
