Please add GPNS candidates to the Green Party candidates, 2006 Nova Scotia provincial election article rather than creating separate article pages for them. Most political candidate articles tend to get deleted because they're not considered "notable" enough to merit an article on Wikipedia. I'm not saying I agree with that standard, just that that is how things work around here. The list of candidates pages, however, do get kept (which is why I created the GPNS one so we can keep the candidate bios here).

Thanks for your contributions here. —GrantNeufeld 16:21, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please leave the Beverly Woodfield article as a redirect to her entry on the list of candidates page. As I said above, having her bio as a separate article will likely get it deleted altogether. Thanks. (BTW, I'm the President of the Alberta Greens and also the GPNS web designer so I'm an ally here.) —GrantNeufeld 21:44, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --GreenJoe 16:20, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Vendesign requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File source problem with File:Tower of power.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Tower of power.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:45, 8 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 06:45, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Tower of power.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tower of power.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 05:18, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ken McGowan is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ken McGowan until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Please note that you should only indicate your opinion (e.g. Keep, Delete, etc.) ONCE in an Articles for Deletion debate. I have struck your additional "Keep" notes (we tend to refer to them as "!votes" since they technically aren't votes). Let me know if you have any questions. -RunningOnBrains(talk) 16:33, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is invited to contribute, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Ken McGowan, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use your sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Do not remove "in use" tags unless the article has not been edited for several hours. West Eddy (talk) 10:43, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"In use" template

[edit]

Please don't remove the "in use" template unless he article has gone untouched for several hours. The purpose of the template is to avoid edit conflicts, which does not work if you simply remove the template to perform your own edits. Remember that this is a collaborative effort. West Eddy (talk) 10:59, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was replaced with underconstruction I would like to remind you that this should be collaborative effort and that you should not be vandalizing other people's work while they are working to improve the site. Moreover I was working on the page when you added the template ... to what end I ask? How does your interference improve anything? The only thing I've seen you do is to vandalize others work.Pdacortex (talk) 11:16, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Ken McGowan shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Toddst1 (talk) 12:57, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Underconstruction on Ken McGowan

[edit]

I've removed the {{Underconstruction}} tag on Ken McGowan. You don't seem to be doing any major expansion on the article, rather making incremental edits. That's no reason to prevent others from also editing as well. While you are free to edit the article, it doesn't appear that you need exclusive access to it. If this continues, I will fully protect the article and/or block any edit warriors. Toddst1 (talk) 13:08, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bring an end to the madness Toddst1 Pdacortex (talk) 13:11, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition to Ken McGowan has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. I only removed the paragraph lifted from http://www.ngnews.ca/Politics/2008-01-24/article-312115/Internal-strife-afflicting-NS-Green-party-wont-hurt-bid-for-seat-May/1. Be sure to incorporate info instead of cutting/pasting. West Eddy (talk) 18:32, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip, I'll edit it. Pdacortex (talk) 20:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring, as you did at Ken McGowan. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Toddst1 (talk) 20:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

Your upload of File:Cold process Aleppo Soap.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
