ポカホンタス（Pocahontas）は、ウォルト・ディズニー・アニメーション・スタジオの1995年の映画『ポカホンタス』の主人公で、ディズニープリンセスの7人目のプリンセスである。
実在した歴史上の人物ポカホンタス（1596年 - 1617年）をもとにしており、実在の人物をもとにした最初のディズニープリンセスである。また、ネイティブアメリカンのツェナコマカ連邦の首長の娘で、最初のアメリカ人ディズニープリンセスである。
ポカホンタスの声は、1995年の映画や1998年の続編、関連メディアでネイティブアメリカンの女優アイリーン・ベダードが担当している。ベダードはキャラクターのモデルの一人でもある。歌声はブロードウェイ歌手のジュディ・クーンが担当している。

構想と執筆
『ビアンカの大冒険 ゴールデン・イーグルを救え!』（1990年）で監督デビューしたマイク・ガブリエルは、歴史の本でポカホンタスの絵を見つけ、彼女についての映画をディズニーの重役に提案したいと思った。女性を描くのが得意でないと感じていた彼は、ピッチ会議に『ピーター・パン』（1953年）のタイガー・リリーのゼロックス画像に動物を加えたものを持参した。彼の映画の一文ピッチは「インディアンのプリンセスがイギリス人の入植者に恋をし、父親の入植者を滅ぼしたいという願いと、彼らを助けたいという自分の欲求との間で引き裂かれる」だった。ディズニーの重役がポカホンタスのキャラクターを要約するように求めたとき、ガブリエルは「彼女は問題を抱えた女の子だ」と答えた[1]。ウィリアム・シェイクスピアの劇『ロミオとジュリエット』にインスパイアされたガブリエルとエリック・ゴールドバーグの二人の監督は、異なる背景を持つ二人のキャラクターが恋に落ちる物語にしたかった[2]。
ストーリー監督のトム・シトーは、このプロジェクトの非公式な歴史顧問となり、初期の植民地時代とジョン・スミスとポカホンタスの物語について広範な調査を行ったが、歴史学者たちから歴史の不正確さを指摘された[3]。実際にポカホンタスがジョン・ロルフと結婚したことを知っていたガブリエルは、「ポカホンタスとロルフの物語は若い観客には複雑すぎて暴力的すぎる」と感じたため、ポカホンタスとジョン・スミスの出会いに焦点を当てることにしたと説明した[4]。実際のポカホンタスはジョン・スミスと出会ったとき11歳か12歳だったが、彼女のアニメーターのグレン・キーンによると、映画では18歳か19歳として描かれている。この変更は、30歳のスミスが子供と恋に落ちる映画は「気持ち悪い」ために行われたとキーンは説明した[1]。ロイ・E・ディズニーは、ポカホンタスを歴史上の人物よりも年上にすることで、映画が「よりドラマチック」になると感じた[5]。

『アナとエルサのフローズンジャーニー』（Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey）は、東京ディズニーシーのファンタジースプリングスにあるアトラクションである。類似のアトラクションに、「フローズン・エバー・アフター（Frozen Ever After）」がある。
概要
待ち列
ゲストは、「ファミリールーム」「温室」「プレイルーム」「図書室」と4つのエリアに分かれた施設内を進みながら、乗船場所に向かう。
「ファミリールーム」では、作品の劇中歌「生まれてはじめて」などに登場する部屋が再現されており、プレートアーマー（甲冑）や、幼い頃のアナとエルサの姿や、両親と描かれている肖像画など、様々なアイテムが飾られている。
「温室」では、多くの花が飾られているほか、霜と霧で覆われたガラス屋根が設置されており、その奥には、夕暮れの空と遠くに輝くオーロラが表現されている。
「プレイルーム」には、中央にアレンデール城の形をしたオルゴールが設置されており、劇中歌が流れる中、アナやオラフの人形が動く仕掛けが備わっている。
「図書室」では、作品の劇中歌「生まれてはじめて」などに登場する部屋が再現されており、多くの本が並ぶ本棚や、大きな暖炉が設置されている。
ストーリー
アトラクション
トロールの長であるパビーが2人の子供のトロールにアナのエルサの物語を語り始めると、ラベンダーの光を放つ魔法に包まれ物語が始まる。
幼いアナは雪だるまを一緒に作ろうと姉のエルサを誘うが、エルサは自らが魔法の力でアナを危険な目に合わせてしまったことを責め、部屋に閉じこもっていた。
その13年後、戴冠式の日を迎え、久しぶりに外界と接触できる特別な1日に心を躍らせるアナが登場する。一方で、自身の魔法の力を抑えることに苦労していたエルサは、不安を覚えていた。損なこととは露知らず、アナは、戴冠式の招待客のうちの一人である隣国の王子ハンスと出会って恋に落ち、船着場や灯台でダンスを踊っていた。しかし、その日のうちに結婚の約束までしてしまい、あまりにも早すぎる決断に2人の結婚にエルサは反対した。姉妹間の口論の結果、エルサは自身の魔法を暴発させてしまう。その場に居合わせた、アレンデール王国の隣国で、貿易相手であるウェーゼルトン公爵は恐怖を覚え、後ろ指を指していた。
エルサを連れ戻すため旅に出たアナは、道中で出会った山男のクリストフ、彼の相棒でトナカイのスヴェン、そしてエルサが作り出した魔法の雪だるまオラフとともにノースマウンテンへ向かう。ノースマウンテンのふもとに辿り着いたエルサは、ありのままに生きることを誓い、大きな氷の宮殿、アイスパレスを築いた。
エルサを見つけたアナは、魔法で国中が凍りついたことを告げ、冬を終わらせてほしいと頼むが、エルサは自分にはできないと魔法を暴走させアナの胸に氷のかけらを刺してしまう。王に成り上がる目的を果たすため態度が豹変したハンスは、エルサを死刑とするため剣を振り下ろそうとしたところ、アナはエルサを庇うと同時に身体は完全に凍りつき、ハンスの剣を砕いて彼を跳ね飛ばした。エルサは氷の彫像と化したアナを見て悲しみにくれた次の瞬間、凍りついたアナの身体が元に戻り、息を吹き返した。その様子を見ていたオラフは、その原因が「真実の愛」であることに気付く。エルサは、知ったエルサは、王国を覆っていた雪と氷を空へと昇華させ、凍らせた城の広場の地面でアナや国民たちとともに真夏のスケートを楽しんだ。

ミート・ザ・ワールド (Meet The World)は、東京ディズニーランドのトゥモローランドで1983年から2002年まで存在したシアター・アトラクションである[9]。
19分間にわたって、実写映像とアニメーション映像、そしてオーディオアニマトロニクスが日本の歴史の物語を演じるショーで、特に日本と世界の関わりの歴史に焦点を当てた。
このショーは、フロリダのウォルト・ディズニー・ワールド・リゾートの「カルーセル・オブ・プログレス (Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress) 」や、以前ディズニーランドで行われていたものと同じように、回転する劇場で上演された。しかし、その設計は正反対だった。東京では、観客は回転シアターの内側に座り、その周りにステージが作られていたのに対し、カルーセル・オブ・プログレスでは、観客は回転シアターの外側に座り、ステージは建物の中心にある。ミート・ザ・ワールドのレイアウトは、観客の収容人数は少ないがステージの面積は広く、カルーセル・オブ・プログレスのフォーマットは、収容人数は多いがステージは小さい。

ラプンツェル（Rapunzel）は、ウォルト・ディズニー・アニメーション・スタジオの映画『塔の上のラプンツェル』（2010年）に登場する架空のキャラクター。アメリカの女優で歌手のマンディ・ムーアが声を担当した。マザー・ゴーテルに王家の血筋を知らされておらず、彼女に永遠に若く美しくあり続けるために髪の治癒能力を利用され、人里離れた塔で暮らしていた。
ラプンツェルに対する批評家の評判は概ね好意的で、彼女の元気で活発な性格と独立心を長所として挙げている。10人目のディズニープリンセスであるラプンツェルは、2011年10月2日に正式にディズニープリンセスの仲間入りを果たし、同フランチャイズ初のコンピュータアニメーションのプリンセスとなり、『美女と野獣』（1991年）のベル以来20年ぶりのヨーロッパのプリンセスとなった。彼女の外見と性格は、先代のディズニープリンセスの1人である『リトル・マーメイド』（1989年）のアリエルと比較されることが多い。

ディズニーのアニメーターとして長年活躍してきたグレン・キーンが、グリム童話『ラプンツェル』を長編アニメにしようと思い立ったのは1996年のことだった[11][12]。キーンが『ラプンツェル』を原作とするアイデアに興味を持ったのは、「生まれながらに才能を秘めており、それを発揮しなければならない」というコンセプトに特に興味を惹かれ、それがウォルト・ディズニー・アニメーション・スタジオでアニメーターとして働いた経験に似ていると感じたからだった[13]。結局、キーンは2008年に心臓発作を起こして監督の職を辞し[14][15]、ネイサン・グレノとバイロン・ハワードが後任として務めた。しかし、それでもキーンはプロジェクトに深く関わり続け、本作のエグゼクティブ・プロデューサーとラプンツェルのスーパーバイジング・アニメーターを兼任した[16]。
ウォルト・ディズニーは1937年に『白雪姫』を発表した直後、初めて『ラプンツェル』のアニメ化を試みた。しかし、ストーリーが難しい内容であったため、結局このプロジェクトは頓挫した。キーンによれば、これはおとぎ話の大部分が塔の中で起こるという事実が主な原因だった。これを克服するため、脚本家たちは「ラプンツェルを塔から出す」方法を製作する必要に迫られた[11]。元々、この映画は『Rapunzel Unbraided（原題）』というタイトルで構想されていたが、キーンはそれを「シュレック的な映画」と表現し、まったく異なるコンセプトを軸に展開した。キーンは当初のプロットについて、「楽しくて、素晴らしくて、ウィットに富んだバージョンであり、私たちには素晴らしい作家が何人もいた。しかし、私は心の中で、この物語から得られるもっと誠実で純粋なものがあると信じていた」と語った。
FLY!/フライ!
『FLY!/フライ!』（原題: Migration）は、2023年のアメリカ合衆国のコンピュータアニメーション・アドベンチャー・コメディ映画。
監督はバンジャマン・レネール、共同監督はガイロ・ホムシー。出演はクメイル・ナンジアニとエリザベス・バンクスなど。カモの家族が神経質な父親マックを説得し、ニューイングランドからニューヨークを経由し、ジャマイカへ移住を試みるというストーリー。
イルミネーションは、2022年2月に本作を発表し、レネール、ホムシー、ホワイトがそれぞれ監督、共同監督、脚本に名を連ねた。これまでセルアニメ映画の監督を務めてきたレネールは、彼のシンプルな画風をコンピュータアニメーション映画に適応させることを任された。レネールを起用するにあたり、スタジオの責任者兼プロデューサーのクリス・メレダンドリは、イルミネーションの最近の作品と比較して、映画監督のビジョンを重視するよう努めた。ジョン・パウエルが作曲を担当し、『ロラックスおじさんの秘密の種』（2012年）に続くイルミネーションとの2度目のコラボレーションとなった。
2023年10月19日にイタリアのトリノで開催されたビュー・カンファレンスでプレミア上映され、12月22日にアメリカで劇場公開された。批評家からは概ね好意的な評価を受け、全世界で1億600万ドルを超える興行収入を記録した。

製作と執筆
2022年2月、イルミネーションは『Migration（原題）』というタイトルの新作を発表し、フランスのアニメーター兼コミッククリエイターのバンジャマン・レネールが監督、ギロ・ホムシーが共同監督、マイク・ホワイトが脚本を担当することが決定した[18]。2023年4月には、編集者のクリスチャン・ガザルやプロダクション・デザイナーのコリン・スティンプソンなど、さらなるスタッフが明らかになった[17]。レネールは以前、セルアニメ映画『くまのアーネストおじさんとセレスティーヌ』（2012年）と『大きな悪い狐とその外の物語』（2017年）を監督しており、イルミネーション・スタジオ・パリのスタッフの間では、同社に関わる前からすでに有名だったという[19]。イルミネーションの代表であり映画プロデューサーのクリス・メレダンドリは、2016年以来となる同スタジオのオリジナルプロジェクトの監督にレネールを起用したのは、彼の映画製作のセンスが評価されたためであり、アヌシー国際アニメーション映画祭を訪れた際に、『ザ・スーパーマリオブラザーズ・ムービー』までのイルミネーションの最近の作品と比較して、本作には「映画製作者の注目」が集まっていると述べた[19]。
レネールは、本作を『リトル・ミス・サンシャイン』のようだと評し[20]、本作のトーンは、物語が進むにつれて緊張感を増していくとした[21]。レネールは、マラード一家のユーモラスなシチュエーションを作る際に、幼少期の経験や家族との力関係から影響を受けた。グウェンや彼女を取り巻く状況は、家族の末の兄弟であった彼の経験にインスパイアされている[22]。ユーモアを構成する際、レネールはファミリー映画にありがちな「いい加減なジョーク」を避けたかった[22]。彼は、子どもにも大人にもアピールできるユーモアのセンスを目指した[20]。例えば、作品の中に出てくるドタバタ劇のユーモアは、考え抜かれたものであると同時に、余分な次元を持ったものであることを確認した[22]。さらに、おならジョークは禁止というのが彼の一般的なルールだった[20]。製作者たちは、作品の中の人間たちを、アヒルが考えるように扱おうとした。レネールは、「作品の中で人間は動物のように扱われ、鳥だけがお互いを理解している」と語った[23]。
ホワイト監督は、本作を「コメディタッチのファンタジー風景」を使って、その中心的なテーマを探求していると説明した。彼は、本作は標準的な子供向け映画やイルミネーションの多くの作品よりも深みがあるが、それでも子供たちにアピールするおかしみは残っていると語った[20]。レネールは、本作の主なテーマを、「快適な場所から抜け出し、人生と向き合い、恐怖も人生の一部であることを受け入れること」とした[22]。追加の脚本は、『怪盗グルーの月泥棒』の共同脚本家ケン・ダウリオと、2020年2月にイルミネーションと脚本契約を結んだグレッグ・カレレスが担当した[24]。
キャスティング
2023年4月、クメイル・ナンジアニ、エリザベス・バンクス、キーガン＝マイケル・キー、オークワフィナ、ダニー・デヴィート、キャスパー・ジェニングス、トレシ・ガザル、デヴィッド・ミッチェル、キャロル・ケインが本作のキャストとして起用されたことが発表された[17]。レネールは、キャストたちがそれぞれのキャラクターとつながるように配慮した。例えば、ナンジアニは日常を愛し、スタンドアップコメディの寸劇で愚痴をこぼすことでマックと結びつき、バンクスは新しいことや新しい経験に挑戦することに前向きで、パムと結びついた[25]。トレシーは本作の編集者クリスチャン・ガザルの娘で、グウェンのスクラッチ・ボーカルを担当するために起用された。完成した作品では、彼女がこのキャラクターの声を担当することになった[26]。
アニメーションとデザイン
アニメーションはイルミネーション・スタジオ・パリが担当した[23]。レネールは、前作でのミニマルなドローイング・スタイルを、背景を提案するのではなく、完全に視覚化してレンダリングする必要のあるコンピュータアニメーション映画用に適応させることを課された。彼は以前、『Yellowbird』（2014）というタイトルの渡り鳥を題材にしたフランス・ベルギーのコンピューター・アニメーション映画のビジュアル・デザインを担当したことがあるが、この作品はフォトリアリズムに厳密に準拠していないことで注目された。レナー監督は、伝統的なアニメーションとコンピュータ・アニメーションの違いについて、前者が加法的であるのに対し、後者は減法的であると述べた。コンピューター・アニメーションを使うことで、監督は、テクスチャー、照明、陰影など、自分にはふさわしくないと感じる要素がたくさんあることに気づいた。オープニング・シーンでは、レナーは他の映画とは視覚的に異なることをやりたかった。彼は "映画の本当のストーリーに入る前の物語 "だと言った。このシーンは、実際には伝統的なアニメーションではなく、伝統的に見えるコンピューター・アニメーションである。レナーは、まず伝統的なアニメーションでこのシーンを作り、その後、チームがコンピューター・アニメーションで再現した。
音楽
2023年6月18日、ジョン・パウエルが本作の音楽を担当することが発表され、『ロラックスおじさんの秘密の種』（2012年）に続くイルミネーションとの2度目のコラボレーションが実現した[27]。パウエルとレナーはクラシック音楽が好きという共通点があった[28]。レナーは、「並外れた創造性」と「楽しさ」を持つスコアを望んでいた。スコアには弦楽器とボーカルが多用されている。パウエルはボーカルが多い1960年代の音楽を模倣しようとし、レナーは肯定的な反応を示した[29]。彼はまた、セルゲイ・プロコフィエフの『ピーターと狼』（1936年）への憧れを監督に伝えたことで、この仕事を得たのではないかと感じていた[28]。モンセラット・ブスタマンテは本作のために、デスティニーズ・チャイルドの2001年のシングル「Survivor」のカバーを披露した[30]。サウンドトラック・アルバムは2023年12月15日にリリースされた[30]。

ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト（Universal's Halloween Horror Nights）は、オーランド、ハリウッド、日本、シンガポールのユニバーサル・スタジオ・テーマパークで毎年開催されるハロウィンをテーマにしたイベントである。オーランドで最も長く、最も成功を収めた本イベントは、1991年にユニバーサル・スタジオ・フロリダの3夜連続イベント「ユニバーサル・スタジオ・フライト・ナイト」として始まった。翌年、「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト」に改名された。以来、テーマ別のお化け屋敷、恐怖ゾーン、ショーでいっぱいのイベントへと進化し、世界中のユニバーサル・スタジオ・テーマパークにも広がった。
オーランドのイベントは1991年から2001年までユニバーサル・スタジオ・フロリダで開催され、その後ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトは2002年と2003年に隣接するアイランズ・オブ・アドベンチャーに移った。2004年には、2005年にアイランズ・オブ・アドベンチャーだけに戻る前に、両パークの一部を開放するデュアルパーク形式がテストされた。2006年にユニバーサル・スタジオ・フロリダに戻った本イベントは、新型コロナウイルス感染症の世界的流行により中止された2020年を除いて毎年開催されており、オーランドのハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトが開始以来初めて開催されなかった年となった。その後、2021年の30年目から再開された。
歴史
ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ハリウッドが初めてハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトと題したイベントを開催したのは1986年だった。現代のイベントとは似ても似つかないこの1986年の試みは、実際にはお化けトラムツアーであり、当時の多くの従業員同様、このイベントにボランティアで出演していたクルーの事故死によって中止された[31]。
1990年にユニバーサル・スタジオ・フロリダがオープンした翌年、ユニバーサルは東海岸の新しいパークでハロウィーン・イベントを開催することにした。「ユニバーサル・スタジオ・フライト・ナイト」は、1991年10月25日、26日、31日にユニバーサル・スタジオ・フロリダで開催された3夜連続のイベントとして始まり、1つのお化け屋敷、「The Dungeon of Terror」とショーのコレクションをフィーチャーした。
1992年に改名され、第2回ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトとして宣伝された。お化け屋敷は2つあり、「The Dungeon of Terror」が復活し、「The People Under The Stairs」はサウンドステージ23に初登場した。イベントは10月23日-24日、29日-31日の5夜にわたって開催された[32]。3年目は、7夜に増え、お化け屋敷の数も3つに増え、「The Bates Motel Set」が初登場した[33]。
また、1992年には、前年のフロリダでの「フライト・ナイト」の成功を受け、ハリウッドのパークで「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト」が再開されたが、失敗に終わり、2度目の中止となった[34][35]。
4年目の1994年、「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト・イン・フロリダ」は、新たにデザインされたお化け屋敷「The Dungeon of Terror」が復活し、さらに3つのお化け屋敷が加わり、8日間の開催に拡大した[36]。ナザーマンズとベイツ・モーテルの映画セットに加え、「Earthquake: The Big One/Disaster!」のオーバーフロー・キューと「The Boneyard」が使用された。また、今年は「Scaracters」という言葉が初めて使われ、イベントに参加する俳優のための公式「グールスクール」も初めて開催された[37]。チケットは今年から36ドルに値上がりした[38]。
「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトV」は12夜にわたって開催され、3つのお化け屋敷が登場した。また、ユニバーサルが初めてキャラクターをテーマにしたイベントでもあり、この時は『ハリウッド・ナイトメア』のクリプト・キーパーだった。このイベントには「The Curse of the Crypt Keeper」というサブタイトルが付けられた[39]。
「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト」は、1997年10月9日にユニバーサル・スタジオ・ハリウッドで再始動し、2000年シーズンまで開催された[40]。2001年から2005年まで、ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ハリウッドで再び休止し、2006年に復活した[41][42]。以来、毎年開催されている[43]。2007年から2014年の間、ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ハリウッドは、常設のホラー・アトラクションである「ハウス・オブ・ホラーズ」をイベントの一環として利用した。
フロリダに戻り、「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトVI」から「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトX」までは、1995年の「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトV」で開発された方式を踏襲し、1996年の15夜から2000年には19夜まで拡大した。毎年3つのお化け屋敷があったが、1998年からは毎年2つずつ、合計5つのお化け屋敷を体験できるようになった。特筆すべき変化は、1999年にナザーマンのファサードで初の3Dお化け屋敷が登場したことだ。1999年までに、チケット価格は44ドルになった[44]。2000年、ユニバーサルは初の自社製アイコン、ピエロのジャックを発表した[45]。
アメリカ同時多発テロ事件が「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイトXI」のすぐ近くで発生したため、ユニバーサルはイベントをトーンダウンさせるために多くの変更を加えた。多くのグロテスクな描写は廃止され、血は緑色のグープ（粘性のあるヘドロのようなもの）に置き換えられた。いくつかのハウス、恐怖ゾーン、ショーの名前が変更された。オリジナルのアイコンキャラクター「エディ」は廃止された。エドガー・ソーヤーは、火事で変わり果てた、チェーンソーを振り回すホラー映画ファンという設定だった。彼は以前のアイコンであったジャックを脅かす存在になるはずで、「道化はもうたくさんだ」というキャッチフレーズが使われ、初期の広告やグッズにも登場していた。最終的にエディはイベント開始前に外されたが、その年のロゴやグッズには「I.C.U.」の公式キャッチフレーズとともに登場していた。急遽、代役としてジャックが「Jack's Back」というキャッチフレーズのグッズとともに復帰することになった。エディのバックストーリーは変更され、名前もジャックの弟であるエディ・シュミットに変更された[46]。イベントは再び19日間開催され、入場料は48ドル、5つのお化け屋敷があった。デュアルハウスはサウンドステージ22にあった[47][48]。
「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト」は2002年にアイランズ・オブ・アドベンチャーに移転した[49]。2002年の「ハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト12」のアイコンは、管理人ではなかった。霊安室のオーナー、ポール・ベアラーの娘であるシンディが、当初は本イベントのアイコンだった。イベントの前提では、すべての土地は彼女の 「遊び道具」に支配されていた。その地域で何度か子供が誘拐された後、シンディのコンセプトは放棄され、彼女の父ポール・ベアラーはケアテイカーとしても知られるアルバート・ケイン博士に変わった。シンディは最終的に2006年の『スクリーム・ハウス・レザレクション』、2009年の『シャドウズ・オブ・ザ・パスト』、2010年の『オルファナージ』に登場する： Ashes to Ashes』に出演。アイランズ・オブ・アドベンチャーで初めて開催されたハロウィーン・ホラー・ナイト12では、5つのお化け屋敷が登場し、入場料は49.95ドルだった。
