A whimper that is coming from me because I just listened to a book that just entered my top 5 dumbest books read of all time. Thank every god/goddess in existence that this was relatively short or it would have been a DNF. The cast of characters are ridiculously stupid, the character conversations are pointless, and nothing happens until the last page of the book and even then your feeling like you're being punked. There is a story and it would have been a cute one if this had been written by someone who gave a shit. Even the cat wraith in the the story would have done better. ...more

Our MC, Halliday VThis was a cute little paranormal cozy mystery set in the town of Marshmallow Hollow, Maine where the town is everything Christmas. Our MC, Halliday Valentine, is a witch who owns a Factory that produces all things Christmassy and an amateur sleuth that sticks her nose in all the murder cases. She gets away with it because her bff is a cop so she gets all the info she should probably not get. Although I'm not a huge fan of cozy mystery, I can get behind this one because I want to live in Marshmallow Hollow..lol.
Hal gets involved with the latest case when the body falls from the ski lifts and into her pear tree on her property. It's discovered that the body was dead before it even hit the ground. So Hal begins to investigate with her boyfriend and the info she gets from her cop bff.
It's a fun and fluffy read, that is relatively short....more

We have our MC, Lily and her son Everette, living in an apartment on the storage unit facility grounds that Lilly manages. Lily's ex-husband is on the run after he stole millions from unsuspecting clients leaving her in debt and the town pariah.
The first third of the book was interesting as we get to know the characters and the background of lily's story. Then it went downhill from there and the story began to get bogged down by repetition. The MC kept repeating the same thing over and over with nothing much happening. It got so bad that at one point I was ready to throw my kindle across my office. Not only was she annoyingly repetitive, she also had the common sense of a tomato. In fact I think a tomato was smarter.
Our last third of the book was not a surprise and the twist was obvious. How she didn't see it is a mystery to me. Oh yeah..because she has the common sense of a tomato....more
