There's more than 30 artist assembled in this collection and of course they have different style and different story. But it only strengthen the point that "spectrum of autism is wide and it's different on every person". Very insightful.

That was sHealing magic wasn’t something new, but healing magic with a solid anatomy base that looks cool & smart without making the reader confused? That was something else. And this book nailed it.
Nhika was a heartsooth, who might be the last ever to exist. Not only did she have to make a living alone in the middle of the city, she had to conceal her ability because people like her were believed to be dangerous. They even have another name for it: bloodcarver.
Long story short her healing gig went wrong, she was chased, treated as an animal, and auctioned to the highest bidder. She was taken by a famous family who hoped that she could heal a comatose person. And the next thing, she tangled up in a murder mystery.
Just after reading a few pages, there’s already detailed anatomy stuff going on and I immediately thought, wow this author really knows what she wrote. And she did!! I love the anatomy details. It made the opening scene already gripping. Also I’ve never read Vietnamese-inspired fantasy before so it was insightful and fresh.
I admired Nhika’s bold personality who seems to refuse to bend over anything even though literally she’s in the lowest hierarchy possible everywhere. Tho the romance wasn’t really my fav, like it felt too shallow? But anyway. Overall it’s good and I’ll be seated for the sequel! ...more

David was struggling to get used to his new life after his mom died, moving in with his soon-to-be-step mom, having a new step brother, seeing his dad loving another woman that is not his mom… it’s too much. He lashed out. His dad got angry. He missed his mom. He spent most of his time holed up in his new room that was filled by booksThe next thing he knew, he’s in a mysterious land that’s definitely not near his house. And so he’s going on a long journey, got a lot of tales, meeting characters from storybooks, and being haunted by a mysterious man who offered to take him home in exchange for his step brother’s name.
It reminds me of The Lost Girl King but considering this book published years before that, it should be the other way around haha. Oh BTW I love the closure at the end , that leaves no room for readers to prolong their curiosity and wonder what’s happening. But now that I know there’s a new book titled “The Land of Lost Things”, I wonder if it has any connection to this book. I Guess I’m gonna read it and see. ...more

Huda brought us to join her family trip to Disney World, which her mother has made into a bonding session mission for her 4 daughters.
The hate-annoyed-sometimeslove relationship between these sisters are HITTING it. Somehow it felt endearing and amazing to see. Like we won’t get along with our siblings at all times but the sense of protectiveness for them will always be there. And Huda’s jokes make the story even more delightful. ...more

The client asks for a certain dish, the detective figures the recipe out, recreates the dish, and the client will be called again to eat the food.
It was really interesting at first but after a few stories, it started to get a little boring. It reminds me of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, set in a small place and has a pattern for each story. but at least BtCGC still made me emotional while this book wasn’t.
Each story is mainly separated into 2 parts: when the client requires their detective service and when the client comes back to eat the requested dish. Unfortunately the “tracking” recipe part isn’t explored enough, we only get a glimpse of them when Nagare explains it to the client while they eat the dish. The food description was detailed even though i still can't picture the dishes but that's probably because i’m not familiar with Japanese foods...more

The time of World War 1, when it’s still called The Great War. Laura was a discarded war nurse, after an unprecedented attack maimed her. She got a new job and a place to live, but someday a haunting news about her brother who fought in the frontline came to her. Then she decided to come back to find out what really happened to him.
This book is haunting, devastating, and beautiful. It was hard to get a grip on the narrative but once I did I couldn’t stop reading. The writing was unusual but that may be due to the setting of the time and I’m not used to reading something from/about that era.
There’s 2 PoV in this book: Laura and Freddie, her brother, going back and forth covering different places & different times. Waiting for the scenes to unfold felt like a constant suspense of waiting, especially when the story hit the 70% mark that my heart couldn’t stop pounding.
I’m gonna need a long time to get over the after effects of this book because the pain DESTROYED me. It’s not the kind of angst that’s shocking and drastic but the way Arden built up the tension made my heart feel squeezed slowly and surely. A great read to start this year but not a full 5⭐ ...more

But that’s exactly what happened with her life.
That was funny, heartwarming, and empowering. Each page is a surprise because I literally had no idea where the story is going and I loved every bit of it from the beginning to the end. I love the character dynamics between mother and son, best friends, house mates, employer and employee, everything.
Only one thing that nagged my mind was the character’s names. It’s so… commonly used that I almost have the face for each of the characters from famous persons and together they made a quite messy combination in my mind lmao. For instance, Kim. A famous Kim? Kim Kardashian. Also I recently binge watched Gilmore Girls and every time Kim’s husband mentioned (Richard) the person that came to my mind was Richard Gilmore. A jarring visual...more

I don't know if the finished copy will be thoroughly in grayscale too but even if it does, It's still good and fit's the theme. loved it....more
