Less known features that are actually helpful

I recently realized that I can add tasks to live activities(it will appear on my Lock Screen and won’t leave until I clear or check the task). Now I use it to set the one main goal for the day.

Also a week ago found that I can make reminders based on location(arriving and leaving).

Now I wonder, what are the hidden gems of TickTick that can be helpful. Also would be great if you share how you use the features

Hard to tell if things are less known but:

You have your own special TickTick email address, where any mail you send to it becomes a task. Subject as title, email body as description.

The title also works with NLP, so you can just forward an email to your TT email appending the subject with "... today 3pm ~external !High" and it will appear in your 'external' list, have high priority, and already be scheduled for today at 3pm, and have all the detail of the email already in the task.

Also the Einsenhower matrix doesn't need to be used for 4x priorities. You can change the 4x quadrants to whatever filters you want (and also their icons). So you can 'hijack' the feature as just a way to view 4x different filters on one screen.

I don’t have any input but this is a great thread!

I would however, like to know how you add tasks to “live activities.” Thank you fellow tickticker.

You basically tap on the task, expand the options by clicking the three dots on the right corner. There you should have option “Add to Live activity” as well as location reminder🙌

Absolutely amazing! I really wish they had a more thorough tutorial. Thank you for your amazing tip!

Completely agree! Maybe I need to go a little deeper down the rabbit hole on the Youtube videos, but I feel like I'm only using the tip of this iceberg. For example, even though OP points it out, I have no idea how to implement locations into reminders like OP says.

Agreed.

I also do not know how to do that. So many features it can be overwhelming but I try to take them one at a time and implement them into my process.

Same menu you just mentioned about how to find Live Activities except just hit the “more” button at the bottom and you will see “Location Reminder” on the next screen! 😃

Location reminder been around for awhile. Not seeing "Add to Live Activity" anywhere though. What does that even mean?

Edit: Nevermind. I think it's only an ios thing. Android here.

Dam, I was looking for it to

You can make habits that log multiple times a day or for a specific quantity. For example, you can have a stretching habit which you want to do it 2 times a day. The reminder will have a count of 2 and you can ask it to remind you at different times of the day.

Explain how ? I want to try this feature in habit tracker. I am trying to give up smoking and I have 3 time slots in a day strong urges to smoke - 10 AM, 6PM & 11PM. I tried to set it up, but the counter takes it a success if I am able to control urge of just 1 time slot and mark it as non success on other 2 time slots. This gives a wrong picture to me about my non smoking days.

When setting up in the new habit screen, once you get to the screen where you have to choose the frequency, there’s a section for “goal”, it is in “achieve it all” by default, which you have to change to “reach a certain amount”. Once changed, it will give you the options to setup amount, etc…

Enjoy!

What does “Add to Live Activity” actually mean? What is a Live Activity?

It pins specific ticktick tasks in the “Dynamic Island 🏝️” on iPhones. This way no matter what screen you are in in your iPhone you can quickly get back to those tasks by clicking or long-pressing the Dynamic Island.

It is great if you are working on tasks throughout the day but while also doing other activities but you always want that task available within one-click 😃

Oh that’s cool. I’ll need to think about use cases for this one.

Yeah I just learned about the Live Activities thing today!

I just started using TickTick coming from Todoist and really feeling the love the developers put into this app! So many thoughtful little touches and design choices :)
