Edit: I had to change thermal paste for thermal problems but now is even worse.
Long story short: I suspect my AIO pump died but it might just be me not mounting the coolers properly since I tried the stock one as well with poor results. I have a r7 3700x. Shouldn't a wraith prism be enough at stock frequency, regardless of airflow? In my case it isn't and IDK if I'm just that bad at mounting coolers tbh... Is wraith prism enough if mounted properly (No OC)? Assume not great PC case and airflow conditions before answering. If yes I will try to mount it again, hopefully for good until I get a new PC
Long story long:
I power limited my CPU to 65W and the clock to 2.4 (through BIOS, no software) and still hit almost 100 C in idle (both AIO and stock)
I used fancontrol for monitoring and I'm confident that's accurate. I never overclock so I tought I could just switch back to my wraith prism in basically new conditions (1 month of usage, low CPU stess at the time) but that didn't help.
I'm most likely doing something wrong when mounting the cooler because ain't no way airflow makes THAT MUCH difference... Right?
My case fans died and I can't replace them, I have one OUT on the top left, close to CPU and one IN in the bottm right, that was supposed to suck air in the case so that the radiator would cool faster, all the others are gone.
That top left one was meant to push out hot air raising from the GPU, my bottom is open but hot air raises so I think that's the best I can do with 2 fans
I will replace the entire system ASAP (except for GPU), I need to upgrade regardless but until then I need this PC and I need it stable.
Pretend I have no fans in the case because one is making noise already and I suspect it is about to break, would wraith prism be THAT BAD?
Should I use a passive cooler and just get more fans for the case instead? (yes, the fanless cooler I mean)
I'd rather wait since I have to replace the case anyways but IDK.
To answer 70% of questions: I care about stability and temps more than max performance and I don't want to do OC, I want a passive cooler because I like the idea of it being quiet but I also assume that would require more fans, defeating the purpose. Help on that? Please
